Roasted Chestnut Milk
I don't know if it was because chestnuts usually come out Christmastime and Christmas and eggnog is such a good combo, but there was something about chestnuts that just screamed milk to me. So I decided to infuse some milk with chestnuts and make some cocktails.

Study says B.C. among regions positioned to benefit, but extreme weather events remain a threat. It’s too early to tell yet exactly how much damage was done during the January cold snap that hit the Okanagan-Similkameen, but early models show crops yields could be decimated this year.

Finding Complexity in Wine
(This article was originally published in 2012. Much of it is still relevant.) Wine is produced in various levels of quality, from simple, one-dimensional quaffs to world-class collectibles. Wines of very good to excellent quality typically distinguish themselves—whether they are red or white, dessert or bubbly—by a unique characteristic that wine enthusiasts know as complexity . Any item which is complex in nature, whether it be Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto , Monet’s Femmes au Jardin or an aged Grand Cru Red Bordeaux, has central to its nature a variety of unique and interacting attributes. These synergistic components provide the potential for greater enjoyment, assuming one is versed in the principles of music, art or wine appreciation and are open to pursuing the increased possibilities. I particularly enjoy Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto , but I would likely appreciate it more if I understood “. . . its daunting technical diff

Irish Chamomile Sour
I know that we can't quite call it a winter in California, but I am very excited about the cold-ish weather that we have been experiencing in the last week or so. Now, I know that for those you who have “real" winters (with snow and whatnot), 60 degrees doesn't necessarily make you dream of curling up on the couch with a hot toddy in hand, watching reruns of Friends in your coziest PJ's.
