Blaufränkisch of Upstate New York's Finger Lakes Region
The Finger Lakes wine region of upstate New York has always held a special place in my heart. It’s the reason why I first started to get into wine from my annual visits I use to take to the region many years ago. Sadly, I haven’t been back since my first born was just a baby so I’m long overdue considering he is about to be 9 in a couple months. A friend and local fellow wine lover, Alison Miller of Artisan Wine Group , recently had a wine tasting girls' night at her house with Laura of the Wine Travelista , where our theme was the Finger Lakes wine region. We were also joined by our other wine loving friend, Laura of the WineTravelista. I was thrilled to revisit this beloved region. When our World Wine Travel writer's group’s theme this month was featuring lesser known regions, I immediately thought of the Finger Lakes for a couple reasons. One, because I’ve always been a big fan of this region, and two because of my recent wine tasting of the Blau

**depiction of injury and intense skin burn from 46:50 to 47:10 Meet David Riggins! David enlisted in the military the day after 9/11. Who Knew That Meghan Sussex and I Had the Same Wine Taste
I’m one of those people that loves cooking and lifestyle shows - and sports. If they put it on Food Network, chances are, I’m going to watch it. I mean, they even got me to watch the Halloween-inspired “Last Bite Hotel” - which I loved! But, I didn’t have “With Love, Meghan” on my bingo card. I honestly didn’t even know about it. But then the internet blew up and the haters started hating, so I KNEW I was going to watch this show. But then I watched the second episode and it put me to sleep - twice. I was going to throw in the towel. But the more hate I read, the more determined I was to watch it. And you know what happened? But then she uncorked some wine and brought in Roy Choi for some fried chicken and I was all in! She just had to work out the kinks y’all! And hate all y'all want, but I'm going to try that single skillet spaghetti! And let me tell you, the Meghan Sussex wine game is strong! Meghan Sussex pouring one of my faves! Photo Credit | Netflix

The Hidden Persuaders in Wine Labels.
Originally published in 2015, this post is still relevant. Book covers and wine labels have much in common. They need to be creatively designed to successfully differentiate themselves from their competition. They battle at similar price points, they vie for the same buyers, and they are involved in shelf space warfare for the optimum location. At this point, all else is secondary, for if they do not seize one’s attention and trigger a buying impulse, then a customer is lost—potentially forever. Wine labels and their “hidden persuaders” have always fascinated me, particularly those with attention getting colors and graphics that go beyond the basic presentation of the producer’s name, logo and varietal grape (or appellation). I'm intrigued by their subtle, and often not so subtle, efforts to seize the gaze of roaming and inattentive eyes. Label designers have a number of variables at their disposal when they set out to stir an emotion and c

Vincey Oger - Coteaux Champenoise 5. La Rogerie Champagne Grand Cru 'Le Bourg du Sud' Avize 6. Ulysse-Collin - Les Maillons 48M Extra-Brut 7. Nu weer back to normal ;-)

videoCan Wine Save The Planet The Living Planet Biodynamics
We find the wines that we like the most, the vineyards that produce wines with complexity and energy, generally come from biodynamic vineyards. There are several reasons for this. The winemakers have a passion for the ecosystem, where healthy plants coexist. It takes more work to be biodynamic. You must be passionate. Most of these people have done their research and maybe experimented to see if this really worked. The second is that you can see the results in the soil. As the plants mature, animals and the good insects start appearing. Biodynamics takes time, generally 5-8 years. But when it takes off, you can see the results all around.
