podcast· 1h 22m· Ep 102IWP Ep102 Amanda McKenna - Yarrow Wine Co and Matt Crutchfield - Matt Crutchfield Wines
IWP Ep102 Amanda McKenna - Yarrow Wine Co and Matt Crutchfield - Matt Crutchfield Wines. I recently sat down with Amanda McKenna of Yarrow Wine Co and Matt Crutchfield of Matt Crutchfield wines. They are both making incredibly well regarded wines for newer projects. We discuss a lot of the nuances and challenges faced by self funded winemakers who are starting their own projects. Like many of the folks I talk with, both have a day job on top of their own project, in this case both work at the wonderful Ryme Cellars. Both Amanda and Matt are making these unique wines in the styles that they enjoy. It really is worth it if you’re able to support smaller producers like them and their colleagues. There truly is an amazing wine culture of younger and smaller producers in California. You can find Amanda's wines at https://yarrowwineco.com/ or Yarrowwineco on instagram and Matt's wines at https://mattcrutchfieldwines.com/ or mattcrutcfieldwines on instagram. I hope you’ll try both producers w

There are several organizations out there for Regenerative Viticulture & Agriculture: Regenerative Agriculture Foundation, Grounded, RegenAG, Regeneration International, renature, EcoFarm, Kiss the Ground, and others. We are most familiar with the Regenerative Organic Alliance. The ROA (Regenerative Organic Alliance) is an organization that certifies farms practicing regenerative agriculture. Its motto is "Farm like the world depends on it." It was founded by the Rodale Institute, Dr. Bronner’s, and Patagonia. There are guidelines for 3 important pillars Soil Health & Land Management: Here, they promote keeping the ground covered, low- to no-till farming, composting, and the non-use of toxic chemicals for fertilizers and pesticides. Animal Welfare – where they believe animals should be raised free from discomfort, fear and distress, hunger, pain, injury, and disease and should be free to express normal behavior! Mistela e vinho podem parecer semelhantes à primeira vista, mas são produtos distintos, definidos tanto pelo processo de elaboração quanto pela legislação. podcast· 47:18· Ep 498From Industrial Vineyards to Artisan Wines: A Conversation on Wine's True Identity
In as large as the wine trade is, it is really a small, tight knit industry. It takes a certain love of the lifestyle, the product and the people to survive, or shall I say flourish. I've been following the career and passion of Master of Wine Isabelle Legeron. So intrigued I am, that when I learned her famed wine consortium, RAW wine, was in Paris the week I was attending Wine Paris, I had to catch up with her and learn her latest. Isabelle Legeron has never been one for convention—unless, of course, by "convention" you mean redefining the world of natural wine while collecting accolades like France's Légion d'honneur. In this illuminating episode, listeners will savor Isabelle Legeron's passionate vision for returning wine to its roots as an authentic, cultural expression—connecting land, grower, and glass in a way that today's industrial winemaking has all but forgotten. As founder of the RAW WINE movement, Isabelle Legeron draws back the curtain on the additives, shortcuts, and mar
