Harpoon Summer Sampler 12x12
Beers included: Summer Style, Day Drifter IPA, Harpoon IPA, Camp Wannamango Purchase Date 3 August 2024 Purchase Price $18.99 Initial Impressions I didn't set out to buy seasonal sample packs all summer, but summer has always been my favorite beer season, and I found a few I was excited to see. The last summer 12x12 of the season, Harpoon is a brewery I thought I had talked more about in this space. I did brew a batch of Summer Somewhere inspired by the original UFO Hefewiezen . Some of my favorite Harpoon beers are classic styles like UFO Hef, Celtic Ale and Octoberfest. The old Harpoon Summer Beer was also a favorite, but I am fairly certain the new "Summer Style" is the same beer or close. Summer Beer was replaced by Camp Wannamango, which has since been demoted to the sampler. Day Drifter "nitro dosed" IPA is a new release; I have no idea what a nitro dosed IPA is supposed to be. The flagship IPA is always a great beer to go back to. This was my first gateway to hop-forward b

videoWhy Your Leftover Wine Tastes Like Vinegar
If you’ve been told that an open bottle of wine lasts 3 to 5 days, you were lied to. 🛑🍷 Oxygen is wine’s worst enemy. For 95% of the mass-produced wines sitting on grocery store shelves, they are completely dead after 24 hours. That half-empty bottle sitting on your counter isn't aging—it is actively turning into acetic acid (vinegar). While a highly structured, premium red or a fortified wine can survive the oxygen exposure, your standard Tuesday night bottle is toast by tomorrow. The best way to make wine last? Finish the bottle. Be honest: What is the longest you’ve ever kept an open bottle of wine before trying to drink it? Confess in the comments. 👇 Stop drinking dead wine. Hit the link in our bio to restock your cellar with bottles you actually want to finish. Revisiting the Movia Vinoteka in Ljubljana, Slovenia
I first visited the Movia Vinoteka about 20 years ago. I went back one or two more times, until I didn’t. It wasn’t due to the location as you simply can’t be more central than having your establishment next to the town hall of Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana in the very pretty Old Town quarter of the city. Nor did I not return for the interior with its just-enough darkness, wood surfaces, and metal accents that keep it modern but friendly and at no point does it go off the rails […] For full access, please log in or purchase a subscription.
