podcast· 59:55· S74E8E74 - San Felice · Toscana, Italy
In this episode of Read Between the Wines, we return to the heart of Tuscany to meet Leonardo Bellaccini , the legendary oenologist of San Felice . With over 40 years at the estate, Bellaccini shares how tradition and innovation work hand in hand to shape some of Italy's most iconic wines. We explore the story behind Vigorello, the first Super Tuscan from Chianti Classico , and the revival of Pugnitello, a once-forgotten grape now central to San Felice's identity. Bellaccini also opens up about the estate's commitment to sustainability, including regenerative viticulture and adapting to climate change without irrigation. This conversation goes beyond winemaking—it's about preserving culture, respecting the land, and understanding wine as more than just a drink. As Bellaccini says, "Wine makes your soul richer." Whether you're a Tuscan wine lover or simply curious about what makes great wine possible, this episode is a thoughtful and inspiring listen. For more information about our Podc

SWR Member Interview: What’s the case for PET wine bottles?
It’s no secret that packaging makes up a significant proportion of wine’s carbon footprint. SWR’s research indicates that roughly half of the carbon impact of wine can be attributed to the glass bottle. Whilst many producers are working on light-weighting bottles (see the SWR Bottle Weight Accord ), some are also exploring alternative packaging formats. In this Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR) Member Interview podcast, I speak with Kelsey Kolbo, business development manager - wine & liquor at Petainer , about the opportunities presented by PET packaging. Kelsey shares insights into the environmental and economic benefits of PET wine bottles, from lower carbon emissions to reduced risk of breakage. We discuss the drivers behind the shift to alternative formats, common misconceptions about PET, and more. SWR is developing a Packaging Choice Framework , offering evidence-based insights into the merits and challenges of different packaging formats. If you're interested in learning more or

podcast· 1h 04m· Ep 562Ep 562: The Greats of Bordeaux – Margaux
This is the second in the Greats series on Bordeaux. This time, the first, most southerly, and most famed commune of the Médoc, Margaux. Surely this is one of the world's greatest regions, with the only major appellation with a château named after the region, Château Margaux. Margaux is a 1,500 ha/3,700 acre communal appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, 25 km/15 miles north of the city of Bordeaux in the Médoc. Margaux is the largest Médoc AOC, representing 9% of Medoc vineyards and an average of 6.5 million bottles yearly, depending on vintage. Due to its size, the region has varied soils, and that means that as much as people like to generalize about Margaux being elegant and pretty, it's not as simple as that. In this show, I cover everything about Margaux -- history, terroir, climate, sustainability, and then the top Châteaux. I break it down into digestible bites and try to convince you that these wines are certainly something that you must try! H ere is a link to the 1855 Cl
