Boxed wine sucks - or does it?!? When a listener suggested we do an episode on boxed wine given all of the nuttiness with tariffs and rising wine prices, we said “Why the eff not?!?” Look, we may be wine reviewers and have our own fancy-pants wine podcast, but that doesn’t mean we are too good for boxed wine. And, we think you will be very surprised to learn about how popular boxed wine has become, not only in the US but across the world. And, we think you will be surprised by our reviews of the wines we tasted. So there’s a there there if you are willing to open your mind. We also think you will be very surprised to learn about the history of boxed wine - which should probably be called bagged wine, or bladder wine, BTW - and how good of a bargain it can really be. Wines reviewed in this episode: Bota Box Pinot Grigio, La Vieille Ferme Red Wine Vin Rouge Send us a Text Message and we'll respond in our next episode! video3 USEFUL TIPS when Building Commercial Wine Cellars!
Building commercial wine cellars is all about creating the perfect space for businesses like restaurants, hotels, and wineries to store and showcase their wines. It starts with understanding what the client needs in terms of capacity, style, and functionality. We use top-quality materials like sturdy wood, sleek glass, and robust metal to ensure the cellar looks great and lasts for years. Advanced climate control systems are a key part of the design, keeping the temperature and humidity just right to preserve the wine's quality. We also focus on making the cellar easy to navigate, so managing the inventory is a breeze. The result is a functional and elegant space that not only stores wine perfectly but also adds a touch of sophistication to the business and enhances the overall customer experience. The Wine Makers – Jamie Araujo, Trois Noix
Though she carries one of the most prominent last names in modern Napa Valley history, Jamie Araujo didn’t grow up a wine brat or even a Napa kid at all. By the time the Araujos purchased the iconic Eisele Vineyard and launched their wine brand, Jamie was already in college on the East Coast. And she kept going east—eventually all the way to London’s West End, where she built a career as a professional actor. We sat down with Jamie to talk about her fascinating journey: from theater and television to working with some of the biggest names in wine, and ultimately returning to the family business at Araujo Estate Wines. Along the way, we explored the next chapter for the Araujo family—Accendo Cellars—as well as Jamie’s own project, Trois Noix. Most importantly, we discussed how Jamie is working to help shape Napa Valley’s future for the better in meaningful ways. So pour yourself a glass of your favorite wine and settle in—you’re going to love this story. (Unless your favorite wine happe

podcast· 26:24Wine faults: Mousiness
Tone Veseth Furuholmen, Senior Product Manager at the Norwegian Wine Monopoly, has recently completed the Master of Wine qualification along with her research paper on mousiness in wine. Is it really true, as often cited in previous literature, that 30% of wine professionals cannot detect this taint? Could the explanation, at least partially, rather be lack of familiarity with the taint and/or variation in tasters’ sensitivity combined with different levels of concentrations? Would it be possible for wine professionals to decrease their detection thresholds, and hence increase their sensitivity to mousiness through systematic training and repeated exposure being presented proper benchmarks of the taint? In this podcast episode, we present her research and findings. Her 2024 research paper, Mousiness in Wine: An Investigation into the Effects of Repeated Exposures and Systematic Training on Wine Professionals’ Sensitivity to Mousiness , can be downloaded here: https://www.masterso
