Leah Scurto and Chris Puppione. Chris Puppione from Puppione Family Wines joins Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger on California Wine Country today. Leah Scurto from PizzaLeah is also here, and she brought several different pizzas. We will try some pizza and wine pairings. Chris Puppione starts telling the story of the family winery. He had worked in wine and thought of bottles of wine as time capsules. So when his first daughter was born, he made a wine for her to celebrate her birth. A neighbor in the Russian River area sold him one ton of Syrah grapes. He even told a tall tale to his wife to get her to come out and prune the first grapes for their wine. When the second daughter was born he made another wine and they kept on making wine that connects to their family history. This wine they are tasting today is a 2017. podcast· 21:44005 How to stop wanting sugar when you stop drinking wine
Do you get upset that as soon as you stop overdrinking that you start overeating? I sure did! For me, I wanted to stop drinking and lose some weight- not gain weight. I know that so many people say not to worry about it for the first few months but many of us who have health issues know that piling on the sugar (and the pounds) can have serious effects on our health. Listen in to this episode to hear about the very best tool I know to overcome overconsuming all the things. videoSon vs. Dad Wine Tasting Wars - El Fanio - Albet i Noya
In 1903, during the phylloxera crisis, great great grandfather Joan Albet i Rovirosa arrived in the Penedès to work the vineyards at the Can Vendrell de la Codina estate, in Sant Pau d'Ordal. For five generations, the Albet family, tenant farmers of Can Vendrell, have farmed, loved and watched over the vines that are now the protagonists of their wines. Albet i Noya became pioneers in organically farmed wines in Spain in 1978 and have since dedicated strong efforts into researching and recovering of ancestral varieites (like the "new varieties" used for the elaboration of their outstanding wine Albet) and varieties with enhanced resistance against vine diseases (translated into their new white wine La Volada). videoPartida Creus - Natural Wine Legends
Partida Creus is one of the more iconic names in natural wine. Set up in Catalonia in Spain by the super-charming Italians Massimo Marchiori & Antonella Gerona in 2001, this famous natural winery is committed to reviving old vines of indigenous and lesser-known grape varieties. Patrida Creus is special in that unlike the locals in their direct area, Massimo and Antonella took a chance on old vines of regional grape varieties - meanwhile, their neighbours thought they were crazy to not tear them up in favour of growing more mainstream, profitable grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Their vineyards are mainly old, low-yielding vines of grape varieties that were long considered obsolete by other winegrowers in the area: Sumoll, Garrut, Trepat, Bobal, and Cartoixa among others. Whenever an opportunity arises, they buy or lease vineyards with such vines from neighboring winegrowers in order to farm them sustainably - they even accepted an abandoned plot of Bobal bush vines eve

Carlton McCoy’s journey from a DC kitchen to the pinnacle of the wine world is anything but ordinary. Bart and Sam sit down with the Master Sommelier and CEO of Lawrence Wine Estates to unpack the milestones and mindset that got him there. podcast· 1h 10m· S8E75E75 - Château Tour des Termes · Bordeaux, France
For episode 75 of Read Between the Wines, we head to the northern reaches of the Médoc to explore an iconic place in Saint-Estèphe— Château Tour des Termes . General Manager Julien Brustis joins us for a refreshingly candid conversation about shaking the dust off Bordeaux tradition without losing its soul. From climate-savvy vineyard replanting to the launch of a white wine (yes, in Saint-Estèphe!), Julien walks us through the estate's bold new chapter under the O'Connor family's stewardship. We talk terroir, tannins, and why their Merlot-heavy blend is aging like a fine… well, Merlot. He also shares how biodiversity, regenerative viticulture, and a carbon-neutral winery by 2026 aren't just noble goals—they're part of the business plan. We discuss the art of modern Bordeaux: wines that can charm your palate after five years, not just after your retirement. And in true Tour des Termes fashion, Julien explains how the Château is becoming more open, more welcoming, and yes—more fun. Acces
