videoA Wine that Bends the Rules Paired with OUT OF SIGHT (1998)
A wine that "bends the rules"? Playwright Lauren Smerkanich and Screenwriter Kevin A. Rice took this approach to pair a wine with 1998's OUT OF SIGHT, which is possibly a perfect movie. Ghostnote Wines' Super Santa Cruz bends the rules of a Super Tuscan just as Super Tuscan wines did once upon a time to the rules of Chianti/Tuscany. A rule breaker's rule breaker! Listen to our whole conversation and all 3 of our selected wine pairings with OUT OF SIGHT!

podcast· 55:15· S7E17New Zealand Wines of the Year 2026
New Zealand wine stands at a fork in the road. One path leads towards corporate behemoths churning out industrial quantities of mass-market Sauvignon Blanc; the other features increasingly refined, site-specific wines across a range of styles that compete with the world's very best. Which will it be? In this New Zealand Wines of the Year feature, we take you behind the scenes after tasting hundreds of wines to get to grips with what's really going on in Kiwi wine. We highlight the best producers, what they're doing and why. And we throw more than a few big calls out there - for example, why New Zealand Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is currently getting our vote over Burgundy...and why fizz should be part of New Zealand's wine future. We're privileged to be joined by New Zealand wine royalty in the shape of Helen Masters (Ata Rangi), Matt Thomson (Blank Canvas), Matt Sutherland (Dog Point), Kevin Judd (Greywacke), Ed Donaldson (Pegasus Bay)...and part-time actor, full-time wine superstar Sa

podcast· 51:44· S1E204Rosé d'Anjou: Better (and Cheaper) Than Provence Rosé?
Forget that boring Provence Rosé everyone else is grabbing for Valentine’s Day. We are exposing a secret from the Loire Valley that offers amazing flavor and higher value for your money, and will impress your significant other. It might help you spice things up a bit, too! If you think all pink wine is created equal, think again... because not all Rosés are born the same. In this episode, we dive into Rosé d’Anjou, a "tender" style of wine that is perfect for those who want a hint of sweetness. You’ll learn how the Grolleau Noir grape creates a unique experience that pairs perfectly with spicy Asian cuisine or even a Galentines cheese board. We also get into the "mad scientist" side of winemaking, discussing how some producers use reverse osmosis to concentrate their juice and to make a top quality wine. We put two affordable bottles to the test to see if this Loire Valley underdog is the ultimate QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) win for your next date night. Wines reviewed in this episode

podcast· 49:33· Ep 182#182 SDEN of WSET?
Of andere Les Genereux winkel.) podcast· 1h 07m· S6E23Revisiting My Husband's Relapse Last Year PLUS the Twelve Steps for Skeptics - how does it actually work?!
As some of you know, last year my husband went through a gnarly relapse - it was HELL on both of us. He spent very little time in our home in 2023 and I was desperate to hide that fact. This week last year, I released an episode sharing what was really going on and that I didn't know if my marriage was going to work. I was in a place of heartbreak and resignation, but also determination to start making moves to stand on my own - without him if need be. When I released this, he had resurfaced from Mexico, dirty, picked up, emaciated and sick. I allowed him to sleep in the living room downstairs with all of my valuables locked in my car, keys in my bra, while I tried to find him a detox we could afford. Over the ensuing weeks, two things happened - one, we couldn't afford anything nor get him into a free detox, and two, he actually seemed to be finally beaten. Cut to this past Monday, September 2nd 2024, he just celebrated one year sober. I interviewed him on Monday and that episode will
