podcast· 43:13Mountain Wines Decoded: Sonoma Terroir with Stonestreet Winemaker Kristina Shideler
Check out all the great events Laurie has on the calendar in 2026 on her website at TheWineCoach.com/events including the Wine Meets its Match tasting at The Ivy Cafe in Easton, MD on April 22nd. Think all California wine tastes the same? Not even close. In this episode, I’m joined by Kristina Shideler, head winemaker at Stonestreet Estate Vineyards , to break down what really sets mountain-grown wines apart—and why Sonoma is full of surprises. Kristina takes us from her science-driven start to crafting wines at high elevations, where vineyard site, climate, and timing aren’t just details—they’re everything. We get into what mountain fruit actually tastes like, why “bigger isn’t always better,” and how thoughtful winemaking lets the vineyard lead. We also talk about pushing boundaries (hello Assyrtiko), the truth about price vs. quality, and how to actually pair these wines without overthinking it. If you’ve ever wondered what you’re really tasting in the glass… this one’s for you. In

9/19/25: Wandering Monsters Brewery's Ludwig
Today's beer is one I picked up on a whim this week (meaning it wasn't originally slated for this month!). Michelle and I took the time to finally head to Wandering Monsters, one of the newest breweries in our area. I had a pour of their Oktoberfest and enjoyed it so much that I nabbed a few bottles of it to bring home. Yes, this isn't the first time I'm drinking Ludwig. However, I'm excited to sit and really mull it over. Will I like it as much from the bottle as I do on tap? Let's find out! Wandering Monsters opened their doors in Cincinnati's Anderson Township in July, 2023 (man, it took us a good damn while to get over to them!). It's headed by Jason Brewer, who worked at the now-(unfortunately-)defunct Listermann Brewing Company before branching out to found Wandering Monsters. The brewery's truly family friendly (unlike other breweries that claim to be but really aren't). Zac Boehnke, the brewing mastermind at also now-defunct Braxton Labs, is Wandering Monsters' head b
podcast· 40:10· Ep 602Ep 602: Wine Legends - Émile Peynaud, The Father of Modern Enology
This is the start of a new series, suggested by Patron Keith S.! Thank you, Keith! I'll cover people who have made a huge difference in the wine world —figures whose contributions have shaped how wine is made, understood, and appreciated. I felt the best place to kick this off was with a man who ratcheted up the quality of wine in Bordeaux and then around the world. Through his great scientific brain and his quiet and kind yet convincing style of plain-spoken communication Bordeaux-based oenologist, Dr. Peynaud had an enormous global influence on winemaking and wine appreciation in the second half of the 20th century, earning him the title "father of modern enology." Through both his research writing, and consulting work, he helped set new technology and quality standards across the industry, and through his teaching and generosity in sharing knowledge, he educated generations of winemakers to focus on quality. In this show I discuss the early life of the man who would bring winemaking

Portugal in Perfect Pairings: Wine, Food & Harmonização
Portugal in Perfect Pairings The word for pairing in Portuguese is harmonização, fitting for a country where broad wine styles and abundant native grapes ensure a wine for every dish: Vinho Verde whites, regional Lisbon wines, fuller reds from the Douro, Dao, Alentejo, and Bairrada, plus iconic fortified Port, Madeira, and Setubal. A good rule […] The post Portugal in Perfect Pairings: Wine, Food & Harmonização appeared first on Cellar Tours .
videoWine Pros Discuss & Taste: BORDEAUX vs BURGUNDY (with Andrew Jefford & Aigars Nords)
I sat down with Andrew Jefford (wine writer & columnist) and Aigards Nords (organizer of @RigaWineChampagne ) to discuss one of wine’s great rivalries: Bordeaux vs. Burgundy. We talk why these regions are so often compared, what really separates them in the glass, and how ideas like terroir vs. estate shape the way we talk about them. We also look at the bigger forces behind the bottles - pricing and value, shifting consumer demand vs. wine-list trends and what might be next for both regions. Be sure to check out Andrew Jefford's latest book 📕 Drinking with the Valkyries: https://amzn.to/45mGBOG I highly recommend visiting one of the Riga Wine & Champagne events, organized by Aigars Nords in Riga each year. podcast· 48:09· S6E52CAPÍTULO 52 · TELMO RODRÍGUEZ
