The Wine Makers – Vanessa Robledo, Vintner’s Diary
The Robledo family started farming in Sonoma County in the 1940’s. Hard work and perseverance enabled the Robledo family to eventually purchase their own vineyards and start their own winery. Vanessa has now started her own project with her daughter Jocelyn and mother Maria called Vintner’s Diary. Their first wine is a Rose of Grenache from Napa. Daughter Jocelyn is creating videos that feature her grandmother Maria making traditional Mexican food to pair with their wines. We were lucky enough to get some guacamole and salsa made that morning from ingredients out of her own garden. [Ep329] Vintnersdiary.com @vintnersdiary
videoSella e Mosca - Sardegna
Sardinia is different. That's a line in the D.H. Lawrence travelogue, Sea and Sardinia, describing his trip to the Mediterranean island in 1921. A century later, we look at the Island's largest producer, Sella & Mosca, owners of 560 contiguous hectares or the largest single vineyard in Europe. We spoke with chief winemaker and Sardegnian native Giovanni Pinna, who shared some thoughts about three indigenous grape varieties that shout Sardegna: vermentino, torbato and cannonau. Today, we think of Sardegna/Sardinia as an Italian island. Still, the influences of its Bronze Age inhabitants, followed by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Spaniards, particularly a 300-year stay by the Catalans, have blended and shaped its particular expression of food, wine and culture. Join us on a trip to the crystal waters, craggy-rocked coast and wild mountainous hinterlands of Sardegna and see for yourself what D.H. Lawrence observed so long ago. Mount Mary is listed amongst the elite of Australian wine such as Penfolds 'Grange' and Henschke 'Hill of Grace' so why does it cost $165 and the others start at $900? podcast· 45:46· S5E24We Need To Talk About Rosé
It's popular, it's pleasurable - and it's much misunderstood. Rosé is having a moment and yet the myths remain pervasive. That's our cue to ride to the rescue, busting a host of rosé myths as we go, shooting down cardinal sins from the hip, and urging a radical re-think of rosé all round. We hear from rosé experts Elizabeth Gabay MW and Ben Berhneim as well as fifth-generation producer Caroline Deforges of the world-famous Clos Cibonne estate in the south of France. Rosé is often patronisingly dismissed as simple and forgettable. Party plonk best drunk pool-side, ideally while wearing a bikini. And yet, alongside the rise of pink Prosecco and posh Provençal super-cuvées, there's a rosé revolution going on that you really don't want to miss. As one of our interviewees puts it: 'open your mind' and 'you will be surprised!' So here's to freeing our minds and drinking the sunset! We also recommend a bunch of brilliant rosé wines so you can join in the fun. Thanks for tuning in. We love to

podcast· 43:58· Ep 88Elevating Women, LGBTQ+ and POC with Jill Osur at Teneral Cellars, Ep. 88
On this podcast episode, let's hear it for the girls. As founder of Teneral Cellars , Jill Osur is driven to make a difference, harnessing the power of business for good and using wine as a conduit for change. All this while also creating a selection of exceptional, sustainable wines. Did you know women are the primary purchasers of wine? That's right, nearly 70% of wine sold is bought by women. As consumers, women have long held the buying power, but not necessarily the business power in the world of wine. Only 10% of winemakers are women today and there are still very few women in leadership roles in the wine industry. Our guest today is determined to elevate women in wine, creating a winery that's run by women, partners with women-owned businesses, and donates part of their profits to groups that empower women. Join us for this uplifting and inspiring conversation!

Primitivo Collantes - iedereen is fan.
