The Wine Makers – Letizia Gini & Azienda Agricola Gini, Veneto
This week we sat down with Letizia Gini from Azienda Agricola Gini, one of Italy’s most historic family wineries. Founded in 1570, the Gini family has been making wine for 15 generations from the volcanic hills of Soave to the sun-drenched valleys of Valpolicella; their wines capture the rich diversity of the Veneto. The wines are distributed by Skurnik here in the U.S., we were joined by Omar Caruso and Joan Stagnaro, two of the reps for the wines in America. The Gini family has roots in the Soave Classico region dating from the seventh century and owns 25 hectares of vineyards situated on the very best hillside position of the appellation. Extremely low yields, low-interference viticulture, and devoted attention to expressing the unique character of each cru results in wines that are not only among the greatest Soaves but also among the great white wines of Italy. Both tradition and the modern are reflected at Gini. The hand-harvested Soave Classicos is 100% Garganega. Both the Soave

805 Beer Raises a Cold One to What Lasts
Firestone Walker has officially unveiled a new national campaign for 805 Beer titled “Long Live Cold Beer,” and from the details alone, it feels like a thoughtful nod to what beer has always done best—show up at the right moment. I haven’t seen the campaign yet, but after reading through the announcement, this looks less like a flashy rebrand and more like a statement of values. Long Live Cold Beer positions beer not as something that needs reinvention, but as a reward—earned, shared, and enjoyed without pretense. The focus is on simplicity: cold beer after honest work, meaningful moments, and connection rather than spectacle. The campaign makes its national debut during X Games broadcasts on ABC and ESPN , with a broader rollout across World Surf League platforms , including Pipeline. From there, it expands into out-of-home placements, retail, and live experiences nationwide—very much meeting people where beer culture already exists. One of the most interesting creative choices is the

New Regulations Coming!
By Doug Fabbioli New state representatives are coming to Richmond, and discussions have started about the laws regulating restrictions on farm wineries here in Virginia. The law was actually crafted with major input and approval from the Virginia Wineries Association to protect the integrity of the wine industry. The changes have a 5-year period to get wineries in compliance and there is no grandfather rule. We are 3 years into this transition period so changes are beginning to happen. The goal is to keep farming in the Virginia farm wine industry. Over the past decade or so, several farm winery licenses have been approved for venues and businesses that are not actually farming. These venues end up being businesses in the countryside with no connection between the land and the products that they serve. The main regulation that will affect some operations is the requirement to have 3 acres of crops that go into your products. This level is where most businesses will land. They can lease

videoNipping at the Heels of Dominus for a Fraction of the Price...Hello Napanook!
Dominus Napanook Napa Valley 2023 Link to Wine: https://www.winex.com/dominus-napanook-napa-valley-2023.html Join our Daily Email Offer List: https://cdn.forms-content.sg-form.com/f3da488a-d10b-11ee-94a3-62718bdc6118 Dominus is one of the great wines of Napa Valley. But what many people don’t realize is just how serious the second wine has become. The 2023 Napanook is no longer simply a “second wine.” As the vines on the Napanook estate have matured, the quality of the fruit has reached a level where this bottling now stands firmly on its own. And in 2023, it really shows. Produced by Christian Moueix, the same mind behind Château Pétrus and Dominus, this wine comes from the same legendary vineyard in Yountville. The difference is no longer about quality. It is about style. The blend is 92 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, even higher than Dominus itself in this vintage, with the same meticulous approach to farming and élevage, including French oak aging and precise p

videoThe Women Behind the World’s Oldest Malbec
Some wineries make wine. Others grow something bigger.
