Norte Brewing and Food Hall opening in Wilsonville
Cerveceria Norte , a 2023 launched Hispanic beer brand, will open their first brick-and-mortar location in Wilsonville, Oregon as part of a mini food hall in a new apartments and mixed-use development. Norte Brewing launched in 2024 as the brainchild of Zoiglhaus brewer Nick Velasquez and brewmaster Alan Taylor. Norte was always intended to be it’s own thing, an expression of a community and a flavor sensibility quite separate from Zoiglhaus’s German and American beers. The creative direction largely came from Velasquez, who tapped into his Hispanic background to make beers that may fill a growing whole in local craft beer for the Latino community. But ultimately the relationship didn’t work out between Velasquez and Zoiglhaus, so they went back to the community for help and partnered with the Latino Network. “We are working on some stuff to keep it focused on the hispanic heritage behind the brand,” says Zoiglhaus brewmaster/co-owner Alan Taylor. “Getting a taproom and a place where w

What Alcohol Manufacturers and Retailers Need to Know About California’s Extended Producer Responsibility and the May 31 Deadline
California now joins Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington as states that have enacted Extended Producer Responsibility laws for packaging. SB 54 (also known as the Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act) is set to significantly impact alcohol manufacturers and retailers selling products both in and into California. The stated purpose of this law is to ensure that “producers” (as defined below, and which in some circumstances may include retailers) of single-use packaging and food service ware take responsibility for the end-of-life management of those materials and increase the use of recyclable and compostable packaging.

This Dexter Pinot Noir is a really cool wine. Actually, it's better than cool. It's brilliant. The more I perused, the more I loved it. As time passed, I drained that bottle with ease. Great fruit, incredible detail and a most respectable pedigree, this is a winner all the way. Silky, seductive and deliciously captivating, you'd be forgiven for not sharing this with anyone. There is a precision and elegance that captivates. Delicate red cherry and strawberry fruit make the first impression before the ripples of savoury delight wash through. Layers of pine needles, mushrooms, dried tea leaves, orange peel, and even the faintest hint of rosemary sprig offer much to ponder, leading to a persistent and perfectly pitched finish. The shape and flow ooze class deluxe. With a captivating tension and nougat creaminess, a flirtatious vanilla custard note moves about with ease. The length and balance welcome you back with open arms time and again, yet the energy is uplifting and graceful all at the same time. That length. That shape.
