Drinking with Chickens Day is one big (inter)national excuse to get together and drink in the company of poultry. And while yes, yes it’s true that every day can be Drinking with Chickens Day….this is the day where a party is mandatory. And a theme. I didn’t make the rules. Actually, that’s a lie, I definitely made the rules. But I digress. This year’s theme: Caftans, Cocktails, and Chickens. What does that mean? It means we’re going to dress in our finest caftans like the ladies of leisure that we are, sip fancy drinks and pet fancy chickens. And for the guys (or anyone who doesn’t want to rock a caftan—but also, bonus points for any guy who wants to rock a caftan), we’re thinking this translates to smoking jackets + ascots, or some sort of vacay-vibes yachtwear (tropical shirts, captain’s

When did supermarket wine labels start featuring their flavor profile prominently on their labels? Is the US three-tier wine distribution system unconstitutional? Recent rulings on Ohio may bring this question to the fore. Don't shoot the messenger? A piece on the right-wing press defending wine drinkers should not be dismissed because of the messenger. Meanwhile, our top 10 Most-Wanted Burgundy wines list does not hit the same spots as previous such articles. In the most-recent wine news roundup, Hungary is decimated by frost; Argentina halts funding for its Coviar national wine body (NB: Coviar has not been shut down, merely it's main line of funding has been stopped); Rioja sales are down; Chile sees 110 percent increase in wine exports to Russia; and Russia remains the pre-eminent destination for Georgian wines, despite the lack of diplomatic relations between the two countries since 2008. But ask around and you’ll likely find that most people have never been to a gin tasting - and that’s where the magic lies. A well-crafted gin tasting isn’t just a drinking experience. It’s a guided journey through history, flavour and storytelling – with plenty of surprises along the way. So how do gin tastings compare to wine tastings, and which one’s right for your next event? A Tale in Every Glass Wine tastings are all about the grape - the variety, the region, the vintage. You’ll learn about the land, the weather, the winemaker’s choices.
