Fort Berens Estate Winery Riesling and Gruner Veltliner 2025_PR SAMPLE
In BC we welcomed the bountiful grape harvest of 2025, after we had two terrible years with cold winter weather that devastated our grape vines. White wines are usually the first to be released after a harvest. I received several bottles of the 2025 vintage wines from Lillooet’s Fort Berens Estate Winery, and today I tasted two of those wines: ...

videoAged BORDEAUX, Cellaring, Opening, Tasting
Today's video is not only about uncorking and tasting an old bottle of Bordeaux, but I'll also take you through steps that'll help you get the most out of your aged wine. I'll also give you my suggestions on a couple of great choices to cellar away that won't set you back big dollars. For starters, every wine has its own lifecycle; some can be as short as just a year or two, others can extend out for decades. The focus here is on Bordeaux. An iconic go-to option for being plentiful, available at a wide range of price points, and, if chosen well, with a track record of longevity. It often comes down to choosing the right producer from strong vintages. Storage Good storage is vital, but it needn't be overly complicated. I have a refrigerated wine storage unit, but it could be a basement, crawl space, or any protected area with a cool, consistent temp, moderate humidity, minimal UV light, and away from vibration and strong odors. South and North
This is the last of my posts about my trip to the UK a few weeks ago, mainly because I didn't really take lots of pictures of the many beers I drank while I was there. For example, I have no pictures from the wonderful pub crawl I went on in Inverness with a long time friend of mine, unless you are interested in Aitken founts that is (and if you are interested, Black Isle Bar & Rooms on Church Street is the place to go). Even for this post, I only have a couple of pictures. With the conference over, we arranged to meet at Piccadilly Circus, but I had about 90 minutes before meeting up, so I dropped my laptop at my hotel, nipped to Westminster Abbey to get a key chain of the venerable building for one of my sons, and experienced unexpected garden envy. To get to Piccadilly Circus from Westminster Abbey, I had decided to skirt St James' Park on Horse Guards Road, past the Horse Guards Parade - being an army brat it was instantly recognisable from many viewings of Trooping the Colour

Spirits for the World Cup Knockout Round: June 30, 2026
By law, "Norwegian aquavit" must be distilled from at least 95% Norwegian potatoes and aged in oak casks for a minimum of six months, which gives it a golden color and complex flavor profile involving notes of cumin, citrus, and vanilla. Founded in 2012 by Allison Parc, Brenne was built on a simple but novel idea: that French terroir, Cognac‑seasoned oak, and estate‑grown barley could produce a completely different single malt — softer, fruit‑driven, and unmistakably French.
