podcast· 47:51· Ep 472Friends of the Pod Series -- Ep 472: David Kong, CEO of GlasVin -- the best new handblown glasses to hit the market
Alert: David is so awesome that he has offered us a discount on your purchase of GlasVin ! Use code: WINEFORNORMALPEOPLE for 10% off ( Patrons, please see Patreon for a deeper discount!) We have never before had on a glassware producer because, in the past, it has been a very limited field. One company dominated and sometimes their products made no sense because, like many things in wine, there were too many options and not enough differentiation for normal wine drinkers. https://glas.vin/ But in recent years new glassware companies have burst onto the scene. I've tried many, many of those glasses, but the only one that actually captured my attention and that I decided to use as more than a sample was GlasVin . They are very light, very thin, and yet more durable than some of their competitors. GlasVin was founded in 2020 by David Kong, who left his job at a hedge fund to start the company and today, his mission is to deliver handcrafted glasses at affordable prices. He was a Forbes 30

podcast· 38:55· S4E18Santorini - Wine's Jurassic Park
Let's go on an adventure to a place variously described as, 'Like being shot to the moon with a glass of fine wine in your hand' and where, 'you basically have the personality of an active volcano in your glass.' Santorini is arguably the ultimate wine destination - a windswept, arid, infertile outcrop of an island in the glittering Aegean Sea. Stunning - but bleak, and where the memory of one of the most violet volcanic eruptions in human history can not only be seen but also tasted in your glass. Wine is one of the few crops to thrive here, albeit at the cost of back-breaking labour and marginal profitability due to tiny yields and regular setbacks. The island's historic sweet vinsantos have most likely been enjoyed for thousands of years - the dry whites made from the majestic, fierce Assyrtiko grape are astonishing symphonies of bracing acidity, steely structure and salty minerality. These are true jewels in the wine world's crown. One producer speculates, with good reason, that Sa

018: Grower Questions Answered #2
We get many questions from growers like you all over the country and the world, so we are taking this episode to answer a handful of these questions on topics ranging from young vine training to fungicide rotation. Listen in, as you may have had some of these same questions in your vineyard, and stay tuned for more grower Q&A episodes in the future! In this episode, you will hear: In year two, should I let the fruit develop or drop? When should I start spraying vines in the season if there's rain in the forecast, and how does that affect the spread? What do you do if your vines are at different stages of bud development in the spring and rain is forecasted? Can I cut extra spurs back to the basil bud or thin the new green shoots? When and how is the best way to apply boron? Is using a fungicide with the same FRAC (Fungicide Resistance Action Committee) code on back-to-back sprays okay?
