podcast· 52:57· Ep 5252. Venice, Italy. Travel to Venice, Italy. Explore the cobblestone streets. Marvel at St. Mark's square and take a gondola ride through Venice's enchanting canals.
Welcome to Episode 52 and the beginning of a whole series of podcasts all about Italy. For our first episode we are in the magical city of Venice. This was my first trip to Venice and I was so excited to visit. We begin with our water taxi ride across the lagoon into the Grand Canal to our accommodation at the Foscari Palace. We stroll through the cobblestone streets, crossing over many bridges with canals full of gondolas into St Mark's Square. Then we take you on a gondola ride through the canals, under bridges and past many stunning ancient buildings. It was just as incredible as I thought it would be and was one of those pinch me moments that will stay in my memory for ever. Lastly, we share a food and wine tour that we did visiting four very unique wine and cicchetti bars that only the locals know about. Stay listening to the end to hear how much it costs to buy a gondola and our favourite places to enjoy a glass of vino in the beautiful city of Venice. See all the shownotes with

podcast· 49:52· S1E34Episodes 34 - Apples Never Fall and The Rise of Australian Wine
Meet Joy and Stan Delaney, parents of 4 adult children and Australian tennis trainers extraordinaire. Everything’s great, except that the kids won’t produce children for their mom to dote on or tennis awards for their dad to be proud of and a mysterious damsel in distress shows up on their doorstep and moves into their lives. The facade slowly caves in on itself while we watch the outbursts, walking away from rage and the accusation of abduction or murder. Find out who’s at fault and whether love will find a way. Tennis puns aside, Australia has entered the world stage in sports and in wine exports. Sydney is located within the state of New South Wales, which is what we focus on today. We sample a 2020 Giant Steps Chardonnay from Yarra Valley, with the scent of bright, tropical fruit like peaches or pineapples. This wine is perfect when paired with fried fish or popcorn, which will be perfect when Apples Never Fall is adapted to the big screen!

Aflevering 33: Mousserende wijn
Eindelijk is het lente, en wat past daar goed bij? Mousserende wijn! So you understand the need to tackle emissions: How do you get started?
This is a recording of a panel session from the SWR Global Conference Series 2023 "How to turn climate mitigation and adaptation into business opportunity" conference from 1st February 2023. So you understand the need to tackle emissions: How do you get started? Climate strategies must be part of a holistic sustainability strategy, which is more than a few web pages featuring babydoll sheep, alternative packaging pilots and diversity initiatives. Starting with climate change is a good way into broader sustainability strategies. So how can you learn from wine businesses trying to lead in the space. Specifically: What are the tools and off the shelf approaches that help you set a baseline? How do you put them into action, and what is a meaningful timeline to create a climate, then a holistic sustainability strategy? Examples of how it’s done – what are the transferable lessons for others? How can collaboration initiatives, such as SWR, improve collaboration and sharing of better practice

Strategy in action: Real life examples of climate innovation creating business opportunity

Strategy in action: Real life examples of climate innovation creating business opportunity The science and impacts of climate change are clear, and do not need debating here. What we do need to urgently consider is how wine businesses can turn mitigation and adaptation into opportunity. In this session, we’ll discuss: Is there too much doom and gloom? Do we need to change the climate narrative in wine? What constitutes an effective climate strategy - and how that must be part of a credible broader sustainability strategy? Examples of game changing approaches in action: How do we inspire wine businesses to take action, and lead using their ability to engage consumers and the value chain? What’s the role of groups such as the Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR), and others, in coordinating and catalysi

Alert: David is so awesome that he has offered us a discount on your purchase of GlasVin ! Use code: WINEFORNORMALPEOPLE for 10% off ( Patrons, please see Patreon for a deeper discount!) We have never before had on a glassware producer because, in the past, it has been a very limited field. One company dominated and sometimes their products made no sense because, like many things in wine, there were too many options and not enough differentiation for normal wine drinkers. https://glas.vin/ But in recent years new glassware companies have burst onto the scene. I've tried many, many of those glasses, but the only one that actually captured my attention and that I decided to use as more than a sample was GlasVin . They are very light, very thin, and yet more durable than some of their competitors. GlasVin was founded in 2020 by David Kong, who left his job at a hedge fund to start the company and today, his mission is to deliver handcrafted glasses at affordable prices. He was a Forbes 30
