podcast· 58:29· S5E18UK Wine's Counterculture
There's a new wave of English and Welsh wine producers disrupting the neat and tidy order of the classic UK wine scene. Guerrilla producers - cool kids who aren't afraid to go off-piste and craft dangerous, divisive wines packed full of quirks and kinks. Their attitude? It's better to be naughty than nice. As one winemaker says - he wants to make, 'wines with a cheeky smile.' In this wide-ranging episode we dive headlong into this world of creativity, experimentation and free thinking. Our journey takes us from wines made under a London railway arch to sheep savaging vines in a Welsh hillside - and we taste everything from orange wines to pet nat, col fondo, 'grower' English fizz and, 'purple Welsh bubbles.' Interviewed in this episode are Tommy Grimshaw (Langham), Susan and James Kinsey-Jones (Whinyard Rocks), Jose Quintana (Vagabond) and Sergio Verrillo (Blackbook). Also featured are producers Domaine Hugo, Westwell, The Wharie Experience and Ancre Hill. Thanks for tuning in. We love
videoGrow Tubes - Sustainable new vine protection
As great as old vines are and the grapes and wines they produce, they all begin as young vines. Listen in as Quails' Gate Senior Viticulturist Ed Tonner gives us some details on grow tubes in his latest syrah plantings, used to protect the tender young shoots and accelerate growth. Quails' Gate Winery is located in West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. It's not unusal for the temperature to reach 45 celsius (113 farenheit) in the Okanagan during the summer and -20 celcius (-4 farenheit) in the winter, extremes that can be very tough on new vines. Quails' Gate has just received their BC Sustainable Winegrowing certification in 2022 for their vineyards.

podcast· 1h 09m· S6E50E50 - Domaine Lafage, Roussillon, France
In Episode 51, we journey to the sun-soaked south of France, specifically to the Roussillon region, nestled in the southwest corner of the country between the Spanish border and the Mediterranean Sea. Our esteemed guest is Jean-Marc Lafage of Domaine Lafage , one of the region's most influential producers. Domaine Lafage's wines are a global force, gracing tables in over 60 countries. The Roussillon region itself is a unique viticultural landscape, offering both challenges and rewards to vintners like Jean-Marc. The area's dramatic elevation changes make mechanisation impossible, while its arid climate, though demanding, contributes to the intense concentration of flavours in the grapes. The Lafage family has been crafting wine for over two centuries, with their expertise handed down from generation to generation. They are renowned for producing some of the finest Grenache wines in the world. In this episode, we delve into the pressing challenges posed by climate change in the region a

podcast· 18:48166 MAI PIU PAURA DEL TAPPO A VITE!
PROSIT
