podcast· 53:55· S1E53Episode 53 - The Measure and Boxed Wine
This intriguing 2022 novel by Nikki Erlick focuses on the age-old question of how much time one has to live. The tale begins when everyone in the world over 22 years of age receives a small wooden box with the message: The measure of your life lives within. Every person found a piece of string in the box correlating to how long they will live. We follow the lives of eight New Yorkers and the repercussions of the choices they make based on their string length. Following the theme of the wooden box, we try a boxed white wine from La Petite Frog Picpoul out of Southern France. It proved to be a crisp, tasty wine that we enjoy while learning about the aspects of boxed wine.

podcast· 47:15· S1E167Getting Serious About Rosé #3: Tavel! (The Pope’s wine, The 4th wine)
Visually stunning, Tavel is not your typical rosé, and may be the rosé wine that makes your snobby “I don’t drink rosé” friends change their minds! Sometimes called the 4th wine, and sometimes called the Pope’s wine, Tavel is a different kind of juice. It is a very deep pink to red hue, sometimes described as watermelon or evening sunset, and the reason for that is because it spends more time on the skins than a typical rosé - afterall, rosé gets its color from red wine grapes. Wait, is all of this confusing you?!? Don’t worry, just join us, and we will unravel all of these mysteries and tell you why Tavel is the rosé wine you need to be drinking this year. It could be the “it” wine of summer 2025! Wines reviewed in this episode: 2022 Chateau Trinquevedel Tavel Rosé, 2023 Gabriel Meffre Saint Ferréol Tavel Send us a Text Message and we'll respond in our next episode! podcast· 58:43· S5E5The Real Wine Show S5 E5 w/ Christine Lau, Ji Hye Kim, & Carlos Parisi
Welcome to a rather unconventional episode of TRWS, but one that will delight nonetheless, as our panelists are all foodies, chefs, entrepreneurs and philosophers! We cut a couple of regular show segments, and indulged instead discussion about the the trouble with "fusion cuisine," how S. Korea has 6x the seasonality we have here in Michigan, and the Arab origins of Mexican tacos! Chef Christine Lau (formerly of Kimika NYC) was in from New York, Chef Ji Hye Kim is the creative fire behind Ann Arbor's Miss Kim restaurant, and Carlos Parisi is from Detroit, where, besides being the owner of Aunt Nee's tortilla chips and salsas, he's involved in a variety of projects and pop-ups; you may have seen him on IG lavishing fresh-shaved truffle on coney dogs! It's a terrific episode that will appeal to anyone concerned with matters of taste, food quality, responsibility and creativity. Join us!

Iron Horse Vineyards’ Joy Sterling
Joy Sterling from Iron Horse Vineyards is our guest today on California Wine Country with Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger. Joy has been on California Wine Country before, on this episode of Sept. 27, 2017 . Clark Wolf is sticking around from the previous segment to talk about the Northern California Public Media Awards that are coming back on May 10. This year’s honorees are Joy Sterling and her whole family, who are getting the recognition they deserve for all the delicious wines they make and also for all of their other work outside of winemaking. Joy describes Iron Horse as a magical place, with stunning views across rolling hills of vines, with Mt. St. Helena in the distance. “The grapes know they are growing in a gorgeous place.” Dan Berger says its magic is a result of its location. The old road has not changed in 100 years. As you cross the bridge, it feels like you are 100 miles from anywhere. While a lot of wineries try to “turn it up so much” as Clark says, Iron Horse is natural.

The Wine Makers – Cathy Corison, Grace Corison & Anna Brittain
Cathy Corison is a legend, pioneer, and true trailblazer in the California wine industry. In the 1970s, when most women were limited to lab work, Cathy set her sights on winemaking. She earned her place at Freemark Abbey and Yverdon, eventually becoming head winemaker at Chappellet in 1980. While the wine world leaned toward big, bold, hedonistic Napa Cabernets, Cathy stayed true to her vision—crafting restrained, elegant wines that initially flew under the radar of critics like Robert Parker. Today, under her own label, Corison, Cathy is celebrated as one of California’s most respected producers. Joining the conversation is Grace Corison, Cathy’s daughter and the future face of Corison Winery. Grace played a key role in getting their vineyards certified organic—a recognition of practices they’d followed for years. She recognized the importance of official certification for transparency and for connecting with a younger generation of wine drinkers. Also joining us is Anna Brittain, Exe

podcast· 1h 04m· Ep 414Smart. Intoxicating. LVMH Ambassador....In China. Emilie Steckenborn.
I couldn't help myself. I mean, how American can you be? In fact, I do what I can when travelling to absorb culture and not compare to the American lifestyle. But I had to ask "Is the Chinese food in China the same as it is in the states?" The answer....listen to the podcast! Emilie Steckenborn makes a living where most of us can only dream—at the intersection of wine, culture, and cutting-edge business in China's ever-evolving market. But don't let her youthful charm and "very strong Chinese accent" (as Paul jokes) fool you. You will come away from this episode with
