Relaunch of the B.C. Pinot Noir blog
podcast· 1h 30m064: Regenerative Organic Certified!
In this episode Chris, Morgan and Director of Viticulture Jake Neustadt break the exciting news that Bedrock Vineyard is now Regenerative Organic Certified! This makes it one of 19 vineyards in the country and one of 24 in the world. They talk about the importance of the certification and dive into the pillars of regenerative viticulture- context, minimal disturbance, diversity, keeping the ground covered, and animal animal integration and how, fundamentally, regenerative farming is about letting nature heal itself while also growing a grape crop. The team also reflects on the wine quality improvements that have come with the integration of these practices and how vines having a greater conversation with the soil make for wines that speak more strongly of place.
videoRockburn Pinot Noir 2023
We're sharing a bit about our 2023 Rockburn Pinot Noir. The 2023 season was warm, which led to an early harvest with wonderfully clean fruit. Despite facing some challenging weather, including a couple of tricky rain events and frost at the end, we managed to bring in a great crop. This vintage is 85% estate-grown fruit from our Parkburn vineyard in the Cromwell Basin, blended with 15% from Gibbston. The balance of Parkburn’s rich fruitiness and Gibbston’s tannic structure and fine tension is what gives Rockburn Pinot Noir its signature style. The slightly cooler season compared to 2022 has introduced some elegant herbal notes alongside the classic fruit flavours. It’s drinking beautifully now, but like our previous vintages, it has the potential to age gracefully for many years. We’re thrilled with how this one turned out!
videoRockburn Chardonnay 2023
Taking you through our Rockburn Chardonnay 2023. This vintage is crafted from grapes grown in our own Parkburn Vineyard, along with select fruit from a vineyard in Bannockburn. Blending these two early-ripening sites, we've aimed for a more refined and fresh style of Chardonnay, one that truly reflects our unique soils and climate. Expect a crisp, refreshing Chardonnay with minimal oak influence, as most of the maturation was done in stainless steel. The result is a clean, elegant wine that showcases mineral notes alongside beautiful stone fruit characters. It's ready for you to enjoy now but has the structure to develop gracefully over the coming years
videoRockburn Amber 2023
An introduction to Rockburn Amber, an orange wine—though it’s not made from oranges! Orange (or "amber") wine is crafted from white grapes, but it’s made like a red wine. For this wine, we use Pinot Gris grapes, placing them in a fermenter with skin contact, similar to how we make Pinot Noir. This process adds texture, complexity, and brings out a peachy-pink hue that deepens to orange as the wine ages. The result is a wine full of texture, vibrant fruit flavours, and a mineral-driven palate with great tension. It has much more depth than a typical Pinot Gris, offering a fun, unique experience and impressive aging potential. It's a style with an exciting future!

videoRockburn Pinot Gris 2023
An Introduction to the 2023 Rockburn Pinot Gris, sourced from Gibbston. This year, we’ve fermented it in both tank and barrel, adding a few small oak puncheons to bring complexity, fruit weight, and lees texture to the palate. The result is a relatively dry, savory style of Pinot Gris with vibrant fruit character. It’s wonderfully versatile and pairs easily with a wide range of foods—a true chameleon that will surprise you with its flexibility. Perfect for summer sipping, this Pinot Gris is also built to age, softening beautifully over time and delivering great enjoyment through the years.

podcast· 54:08· S1E54Episode 54 - Somebody Else’s Shoes and Wine Fraud
Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else’s shoes? Jojo Moyes’ 2023 novel helps answer that question. Nisha Cantor, a wealthy globetrotter, and Sam Kemp, an overly stressed woman with an awful job, accidentally pick up each other’s gym bag. Inside Nisha’s bag was a beautiful pair of 6-inch Christian Louboutin red crocodile shoes, which makes Sam feel more confident when she wears them. Nisha is desperate to find them since her husband is divorcing her and wants the shoes back. Both women’s lives turn upside down with new life experiences. This was a funny, easy read with numerous twists and turns in the plot. And we learned all about famous and infamous wine fraud - Rudy Kurniawan to Yellowtail.

Ci siamo alzati, come prezzo, vediamo cosa succede!
