videoLodi’s Best Kept Secret: Klinker Brick Winery 🍷 (Wine Talks Part 1)
Robert from The Secret Wine Society returns to KPNW Radio with a very special guest: Farah Jolly from Klinker Brick Winery in Lodi, California. In this first part, we discover the fascinating history behind the "Clinker Brick" name [01:54], why Farah’s family pivoted away from Chardonnay to embrace Albariño [03:41], and the heartwarming (and muddy!) story behind the Farah Syrah [07:31]. Robert also breaks down why Lodi is becoming the go-to destination for world-class wine without the Napa price tags. Timestamps: [01:54] - What is a Clinker Brick? The story of a family home and a unique name. [03:41] - Breaking Up with Chardonnay: Why Klinker Brick moved to Albariño. [05:33] - Pairing Tips: Oysters, fish tacos, and the "ultimate" roast chicken match. [07:31] - The Farah Syrah: A 5-year-old's intuition and a stuck tractor. podcast· 45:46· S1E10Pizza e vino: come abbinarli davvero (oltre il mito pizza e birra)

podcast· 46:45· S1E197WTF is Aligoté?
Sometimes known as the “other” white wine of Burgundy, Aligoté is the bargain white from one of the world’s most famous wine regions. It is the child of Pinot Noir and Gouais Blanc, the latter of which is a wine that many think is now extinct because French nobility hated it so much they burned and banned it. Aligoté is often used in sparkling wine, and as a standalone varietal, it is often described as acidic and neutral, making it a very good food wine. We agree with that description. It is not a complex wine, but it is a wine that is easy to drink and would be fantastic with fish, white meat, creamy sauces, and spicy foods. If you are looking for a reasonably priced alternative to expensive Burgundy wines, this may be right up your alley! We also talk about the latest red wine and ice cream craze and give our two cents about it, and we have a guest appearance from Frank Racioppi from Ear Worthy. Wines reviewed in this episode: 2022 Domaine de Rochebin Bourgogne Aligoté, 2017 Maison

12/18/24: Urban Artifact's Sugar Plum
Christmas is coming. Although we have a week to go until C-Day, it's evening now. My home's quiet and dark. My kid's nestled, all snug in his bed. Visions of sugar plums (or, at least, monster trucks) are probably dancing through his head. I'm not yet in my cap and ready to call it a night myself. I have a beer post yet to write and some music to enjoy. I suggest you get your favorite Christmas album spinning and settle in for tonight's beer: Urban Artifact's Sugar Plum. Urban Artifact ( here's a link to their "Our Story" page ) a brewery operating out of a defunct church in Cincinnati, OH's Northside neighborhood. They were founded in 2015 and specialize in sour ales, forging the path of the now-heralded (in certain circles, at least) Midwest Fruit Tart. They also pioneered the pickle beer. I can't find where Sugar Plum might live on Urban Artifact's website, so to Untappd we go ! This lists the 7.2% ABV fruit beer as being brewed with plum, vanilla, and spice. How does it compare to
