Elevating the Art of Prosecco at Bellenda Winery
The Wining Hour: Since the mid 1980’s, Bellenda Winery has been crafting elegant sparkling wines in the scenic Carpesica hills of Treviso. Founded by the Cosmo family, the estate reflects their shared passion for the land and the region’s signature grape, Glera. Their vineyards stretch across the prestigious Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG zone, a UNESCO-listed area known for producing some of the finest expressions of Prosecco. We had the pleasure of engaging in a virtual tasting with Umberto Cosmo and being transported to the winery. Bellenda’s Terroir Bellenda’s vineyards lie on the glacial slopes of Carpesica, where cool nights and warm days help the grapes retain vibrant acidity. The mineral-rich soils, composed of limestone, clay and glacial deposits, and steep terrain produce wines that are bright, structured, and full of character. As one of the designated Rive zones of Valdobbiadene, Carpesica offers a distinct microclimate that gives Bellenda’s wines their signature freshness a

5 Family-Friendly Lodi Wineries for Your Holiday Gathering
Photo credit: Michael David Winery Your sister just flew in with the kids. Your parents want to “do something fun as a family.” Your cousin's bringing the dog. And somehow, you're in charge of entertaining everyone from ages 4 to 74 for an entire afternoon. Welcome to the holidays. Here's the good news: You don't need an elaborate plan or weeks of advance reservations. You just need to get everyone to Lodi wine country, where tasting rooms are built for exactly this moment – when the whole crew is in town and needs a place to gather, relax, and actually enjoy each other's company. Here, multi-generational farming families have been welcoming multi-generational visitors for decades, creating tasting room experiences where kids can

Lakewood now serving up brews and bites all day long
Bacon Me Crazy, the Flatbread of the Month at the Lakewood Kitchen (Image: Cassie Henderson). Lakewood Brewing Co. of Garland looks to become a regular lunch destination for its patrons, as the company has expanded its hours to allow more time to enjoy the Lakewood Kitchen's lineup of "not your typical pub fare," which includes shareables, salads, sandwiches, flatbread pizzas and desserts. The brewery first opened its on-site kitchen in the fall of 2022, but lunch service was originally only offered later in the week and on weekends. Now, taproom visitors can order a midday meal seven days a week, with hours beginning at 11 a.m. “Our kitchen team has been knocking it out of the park, and we wanted more people to experience that,” says Wim Bens, founder and president of Lakewood. “Lunch gives us another opportunity to surprise guests with what brewery food can be.” As for the menu, one highlight is the brewery's rotating "Flatbread of the Month." This month's selection, created by line

Rodeo Hills: Where Everything Starts
In Oregon’s Dundee Hills, Jared Etzel has found a way to translate memory, place, and restraint into wine. His 7-acre estate may be modest in scale, but it carries a sense of calm conviction and is the product of a winemaker who values observation over intervention. Etzel’s surname is a familiar one in Oregon wine. […] The post Rodeo Hills: Where Everything Starts appeared first on Advinetures.ca .

Specialist Retailers Are a Bright Spot for German Wine in the UK
“Where are all the dynamic, characterful wines from Germany?” Bastian Fischer asked in exasperation after 16 years in the UK wine trade. This year he answered that question himself by opening his own shop. Trinkfluss Wines, just outside London, focuses “on some of the most electric, food-friendly, and downright delicious wines anywhere,” in Fischer’s view. His new venture, baptized with the German word for drinkability, quenches the thirst for Germany’s full gamut of varieties. But one swallow doesn’t make a summer. The somms and wine aficionados who shop at specialist wine stores like Fischer’s may have embraced German wines, but...
