Some Closing Thoughts
On Friday afternoon, with work concerns disappearing into the rear view mirror, and a little time to go until I had to pick up the twins from school, I was having a very fine pint of lager (but which one?? It was Vested Interest, a Franconian-style kellerbier) at the bar in the Selvedge Brewing taproom. From what Murphy & Rude have told customers though, they were looking to scale and it became clear that the challenges of scaling made it unfeasible. A new marketing initiative to promote Swedish wines: Terra Skåne
Most Swedish vineyards are in the southernmost region named Skåne, not surprising given the warmer climate this part of Sweden offers compared to the rest of the country. Pernod Ricard and Brown-Forman Abandon Merger Talks, Both Confirm
Pernod Ricard and Brown-Forman are no longer pursuing a potential deal, both companies confirmed in separate press releases today. Brown-Forman’s stock fell by 5.08 percent as of 4:54 p.m. in after-hours trading following the announcements. News that discussions have been terminated comes just over a month after Pernod and Brown-Forman’s will-they-won’t-they saga came to light. In late March, both spirits producers confirmed they were exploring a business deal, which they described as a “merger of equals.” Sazerac threw its hat into the ring when it offered to buy Brown-Forman for $15 billion.
