In this episode of Eat Sleep Wine Repeat, Janina is joined by Maisie Turner, assistant wine buyer at Berkmann, Master of Wine student and winner of the IWSC Emerging Talent in Wine Communication Award, to explore the changing world of wine and what it takes to make it exciting for a new generation. 🎧Shadows in the Cellar: Murder, Mystery, and Ghosts in Wine Country
It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass. Pour yourself a glass of something dark, bold, and deep crimson. Sit back, dim the lights, and lock your doors. Welcome to a special Halloween edition of the podcast. We all love wine for what it brings to our tables—celebration, romance, community, and the artistry of the earth. But wine has a long, shadowed history. Behind the polished tasting rooms, the romantic candlelit barrels, and the sun-drenched vineyards lie stories of sudden violence, restless spirits, and baffling mysteries that time has failed to erase. Tonight, we are pulling back the velvet curtain on the dark side of wine country. Thank you so much for joining me for this dark journey through the shadows of wine country. If you survived this trip through haunted cellars and vineyard true crime, please make sure to subscribe, rate, and review the podcast wherever you

🎧Juliet: Great Packaging, But How’s the Wine?!?
The creators of Juliet wine sought to make a wine that was chic, beautifully packaged, and reasonably priced. Which they did. But did they forget about the wine? Knowing that north of 80% of people choose a wine based on the label, you can hardly fault a hot, upstart wine brand for focusing on the thing that most people make decisions on: how the packaging looks. However, our job is a little different. We taste and review wine to see if it’s worth your hard earned money. And although our tasting is our opinion and not fact, it is interesting that Juliet offers almost no information about how the wine is made or who it is made by. It’s almost like the wine is secondary. Did that show up in our tasting and review?. Listen to us, and then we’d love to hear what you think about Juliet wine. Wines reviewed in this episode: Juliet 2022 Sauvignon Blanc, Juliet 2023 Pinot Noir Send us a Text Message and we'll respond in our next episode! The wine industry doesn’t need another lecture. It needs a new generation of thinking.
I just read Gary Vaynerchuk's article The Wine Business Needs to Wake Up and after more than 30 years in the wine business, I think he makes some very good points. For too long, our industry has spent more time talking about what consumers should appreciate than paying attention to what they actuall

Friday E-dition: The Harvest That Came Early, Light and Good
Napa Valley’s 2026 harvest is over, one of the earliest on record. In early September, Nile Zacherle of David Arthur Vineyards predicted the vintage would finish about a month ahead of average. By mid-October, he said the record would have held even with another week. A dry winter, early bud break and a wet, windy bloom cut yields by half or more in many vineyards, and winemakers describe the fruit that came in as very good. Growers and winery owners disagree on what the short crop means for them.
