videoWine Living Virtual Tasting August 17th - Aussie Grillers
Our group members asked for lighter whites and reds for the summer, so my first thought was, "what wines are great for grilling?" My mind went to Australia. So, put on your boots, we're headed to the Land Down Under to taste three amazing wines! We'll start the tasting in Tasmania, with a rare and exotic 92-point bottle-fermented Sparkling rosé made from Chardonnay and Pinot noir. Then we'll visit Oz's premium region for Riesling - the Eden Valley - to taste a classic dry version. Lastly, we'll switch to red, to taste Australia's answer to France's Rhone Valley - a fresh, herbal 91-point Grenache. Want to get in on these tastings? Ask Adam: Why Are Sake Cups So Small?

Farm Life
The foundation of Biodynamic farming is that the farm itself is a living organism. Every living element of the farm intertwines to become one. We tend to focus on plants, wildlife, and soil, but the humans who work the farm are part of the energy that makes each farm distinct. Work on a Biodynamic farm flows with the seasons. During the cold and damp of winter, we repair and prepare for the growing season. Then, as the weather warms and the buds burst, the labor required also explodes. More help is needed, not just simple labor, but strong backs willing to work with the intentionality that connects Biodynamic farming to the power of nature itself. That is why we have an intern program at Troon Vineyard & Farm. Now, interns will join the farm team during the summer months. We have had wine harvest interns for many years, as it is part of an aspiring winemaker’s education to work harvests at many wineries as they hone their skills. We are excited to offer a similar program to aspiring Bi
podcast· 37:24· S1E202Special Episode! Meet the (Wine) Makers #20: René Barbier Meyer winemaker at Clos Mogador
Meet the wonderful René Barbier Meyer, head winemaker at Clos Mogador winery in Priorat, Spain. René is a winemaker who believes in being close to the land, the grapes, and juice so that he can make unique, artisan, gastronomic wines. In our interview, he shares his philosophy of winemaking, which is very similar to the way that a musician would describe making music - it is about feel, technique, and adaptation. René practices very low intervention winemaking because he wants the people to experience the wine as it was meant to be. He comes from a long line of winemakers who are French in origin, but who found their home in northern Spain, focusing on indigenous grapes and passionate winemaking. We know you will enjoy meeting René and learning more about his winery and wines. If you are interested in learning more, you can visit them on Instagram at @clos_mogador. Send us a Text Message and we'll respond in our next episode! Contact The Wine Pair Podcast - we’d love to hear from you!

Rising temperatures could transform B.C. wine sector
Climate change could improve grape-growing conditions for the province—at a cost British Columbia’s vineyards could see the number of grape-growing days spike over the next 75 years, with climate change transforming conditions into something closer to Spain’s Rioja region or the Sonoma Valley in California, a new study has found. Published this week in the […] The post Rising temperatures could transform B.C. wine sector appeared first on VITIS .

Italian Sake Is Made With Risotto for a Distinct Taste
When Misal Memeo and Nicola Coppe decided to create a line of Italian sake, they knew they’d have some obstacles to overcome. First, no one had ever made a truly Italian sake before. Second, how could they make a product that would both appeal to the Italian palate and stand out in a market saturated with wine and craft beer? And third, neither of them really knew how to make sake. The article Italian Sake Is Made With Risotto for a Distinct Taste appeared first on VinePair .
