podcast· 14:35138. MVP: Why We Drink
You go into a bar intending to order an orange juice, but end up with a glass of wine in your hands… You swear you will only drink two glasses, but end up consuming a bottle … You weren’t going to drink, but you’ve had a hard day and after all you deserve it … Your friend bought a bottle of bubbly to celebrate her promotion and you don’t want to feel left out … You really would like to stop drinking, but never having another drink seems dull and dreary. If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. I get it. If you lead a highly functional life but find yourself unable to resist the pull of alcohol, I’ve got you. If you would just like to cut back, drink less in one sitting or perhaps give up entirely, I can show you how. This is a struggle you don’t have to live with. It’s time to stop worrying and start living. Today. In this episode, I explain why you drink, why you feel so conflicted about wanting and not wanting to drink, and why this means it’s totally possible for you to c

Organic Wine Values & Top, Recently Tasted Picks
Twenty years ago, when I first started out in the wine trade, organic wines were a rare find. In viticulture classes, I was taught the importance of regular chemical fungicide spraying regimes. Vines were carefully tended to pristine, bare soils with nary a weed in sight. Organic wines were the provenance of a handful of small-scale, premium wineries—or they were PR vehicles for larger producers that, more often than not tasted tart, lean, and vegetal. Fast forward to today, and it’s a whole different story. Organic wine has gone from niche to mainstream, with great options at every price point. Consumer demand has played a big role, but so have advances in vineyard management, making organic farming more viable even in regions that once relied heavily on conventional methods. However, organic doesn’t necessarily equate to environmentally perfect. For most organic wine producers, controlling fungal diseases without synthetic treatments generally means a heavy reliance on copper-based s

21 days Discovering Northern Italy We are gearing up to share with you our amazing 21 days discovering Northern Italy. We spent 3 weeks exploring Northern Italy, meeting winemakers, exploring regions, tasting delicious wines and visiting cities that put into perspective the age and knowledge of this land. On a rainy morning in Milan, Francesca Mecchia jumped on her moped and made the 10-minute drive to meet us at our hotel near Milano Centrale. The plush lobby had ample seating nooks to allow us space to set up for an interview. We were grateful she was able to meet us here. Our trip through Northern Italy was full of short trips to many regions, and getting to the village of Albana, where her family winery, Vigna Petrussa, was located on the Slovenian border, was not in the cards for us. #wineregions #drinkwine #wine #discoveringtheworld #winecountry #winelovers #winetasting #wineenthusiast #winery #discoveringwinecountry #crushedgrapechronicles #vineyards #green #redwine

CASE 0511: F-You Scott Fitzgerald
DEFENDANT: Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald EVIDENCE: Manos Special Edition Great Gatsby Sauvignon Blanc SCENE OF THE CRIME: Long Island -- Hey friend — come sit with us for a cozy, messy chat where wine and soup fuel a no-holds-barred re-read of The Great Gatsby. We get personal, a little loopy, and deeply into the weeds about Gatsby’s tragic love, Tom’s grossness, Daisy’s contradictions, and whether Nick was totally in love with his neighbor. Spoiler: feelings are messy and rich people are worse. Pop a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, lean back, and let us walk you through art-deco bottles, literary gossip, and cheating scandals — plus a surprisingly earnest defense of hand-painted wine labels. We talk Fitzgerald’s life (and terrible choices), Zelda’s shadow, speculative queer readings, and how the book manages to feel both glamorous and kind of rotten all at once. No fake facts here (well, maybe a few), lots of laughs, and zero pretension — just two pals getting hungry, distracted by soup, an
