videoThey're Ripping Out Vines That Are Worth $25,000 a Ton
The Riverland, Australia's wine heartland, is in crisis. Growers are paid $100-$200 per ton for grapes that cost $400 to produce. After 100 years of success, the region is going broke. But there's a solution—and it comes from halfway around the world. The Crisis: Riverland growers are trapped in a death spiral. Water costs have tripled. Grape prices have collapsed. Break-even is $400/ton, but buyers pay $100-$200. Farmers are selling truck parts to survive. Old vines planted in the 1940s are being ripped out because they don't produce enough volume. The 100-Year Story: After WWI, Australia created the soldier settlement scheme—giving returning veterans land in the Riverland. They planted grapes, built cooperatives, and created the "engine room" of Australian wine. For a century, the system worked. Volume was king. The region bragged about tonnage, not quality. But that model is now broken. The Math Doesn't Work: Growers lose $60,000+ per year Water is the biggest cost (and it keeps
videoSelf-Care Night In #Short
After a long day, I’m learning to be intentional about how I wind down because there never seems to be a perfect opportunity to choose stillness. Choosing a night in. Choosing presence. Choosing things that feel good and still feel elevated like @stellarosa’s Non-Alcoholic Black. #ad This is no new addition to my routine, it’s a staple that can’t be skipped. It’s semi-sweet, refreshing, and honestly feels just as special poured into a glass with no compromise on flavor or experience. videoChâteauneuf-du-Pape in 5´!
Châteauneuf-du-Pape sounds serious, but the story behind it is anything but boring. Popes, history, bold wines, and a region that somehow allows winemakers to blend freely and still create some of the most iconic bottles in the world. There’s a reason this place keeps coming up in wine conversations. In the full video, we unpack what makes Châteauneuf-du-Pape so special and why it still matters today, all in under 5 minutes. 10/10/25: Wolf's Ridge Brewing's Pumpkin Spice Daybreak
Here we are. Over a week into October and it's finally starting to feel like fall. Sure the sun's shining, but I could see my breath when I took Lottie out this morning and it's a steady 68° in my house without the air running. What better way to grace the triumphant return of the best season than by breaking the seal on Spooky Finger Puppet Ghost Month 2025? To christen the pumpkin season on the blog, we're doing up Wolf's Ridge's Pumpkin Spice Daybreak. Let's see how it's drinking. Wolf's Ridge is a Columbus, OH brewpub founded by father and son duo, Alan and Bob Szuter, in 2013. Bob brought food to the table, while Alan brought the love of beer and the business acumen. Together, they've grown the brewery into an award-winning entity that you can regularly find on store shelves across Ohio, at least. Here's their "About" page if you want to know more. Pumpkin Spice Daybreak is a variant of Wolf's Ridge's Daybreak (which I haven't tried). The seasonal 5% ABV cream ale features the cof
