podcast· 23:11196. Is the Drink the Fun Part?
We tell ourselves the glass in our hand is what makes a night fun. That the drink is the sparkle, the release, the reason an evening feels special. But if that were true, then people who don’t drink would never have fun — and no event could ever be enjoyable without alcohol. In this episode, I unpack why our brains confuse permission with pleasure , how alcohol piggybacks on moments we’ve already decided are “fun time,” and why those nights often come with consequences that don’t feel so fun the next day. You’ll hear real-world examples of how fun actually gets created, plus simple tools you can use to reclaim joy without needing a glass in your hand. If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s really the drink that makes the night, this conversation will give you the proof it isn’t — and show you how to create the kind of fun that doesn’t leave you with regret. videoGuessing the World's Most Famous Wines by Taste Alone
The taste of place. Terroir. The idea that wine can express where it's from in the glass. It's one of the most romantic concepts in wine — but is it real? Can you actually taste it? We grabbed six wines from six of the world's most iconic regions, poured them blind, and put three tasters to the test. No labels. No clues. Just the glass. The lineup: → A champagne that made all three of us rethink our loyalties → A German Riesling that split the room on price by over $100 → A white Burgundy so neutral it had us checking for cork taint → A red that had us torn between Burgundy, Tuscany, Sicily and Etna → A Bordeaux that everyone got right — but nobody expected to be this elegant → A wine that one person called Barossa Shiraz, another called Tempranillo from Spain, and somehow they were both making sense Some we nailed. Some fooled all three of us. One wine sparked a genuine argument about whether it was faulty or just French. For each wine we guess the region, call a price, and say how

podcast· 45:06Re-release of Ep 310: Elena Walch - The Quality Revolutionary of Alto Adige, Italy
I couldn't get a new podcast out with my travels from Alto Adige with the patrons, but I thought it was timely I re-released this show since I was just there. It's not ALL old hat -- I did a light edit, improved the sound quality, and recorded a quick intro to this re-release of Ep 310: Elena Walch - The Quality Revolutionary of Alto Adige, Italy. Elena Walch is a winery with an essential role in the quality revolution of Alto Adige, Italy. Alto Adige is in the northeast corner of Italy and although it is one of the smallest Italian regions (0.7% of wine production) it has a nearly unlimited variety of wines that offer delicate, unique flavor profiles. Photo: A view of Alto Adige from my travels Located south of the Alps, in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains (where the ice mummy was found !), vineyards here are planted steep slopes, river valleys, and some warmer plains. The vast differences in microclimates and soils in this sloping terrain make wines that have ample fruit but b
