2026 Irish Red For St. Patrick’s Day
Saint Patrick’s Day is a perfect excuse to brew something Irish inspired. Mike usually makes stouts for the holiday, but this time he brewed an Irish Red Ale for the family’s traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner. The goal was a simple, drinkable beer that would appeal to everyone who stopped by for the celebration. […] The post 2026 Irish Red For St. Patrick’s Day appeared first on Brew Dudes .

Chicago’s Half Acre Beer Company and Maplewood Brewery Merge Amid Craft Consolidation Wave
Half Acre Beer Company and Maplewood Brewery & Distillery, two of Chicago’s largest craft breweries, are set to merge into a new beverage company, the businesses announced on Tuesday. Both breweries will operate independently at their respective taprooms, but the joint venture will consolidate their behind-the-scenes business operations to form an unnamed, “premier Chicago beverage company,” per the release. The merger comes after a wave of shutterings in the Windy City’s craft beer scene. Five breweries, including Casa Humilde, have closed or announced closures in just the last six weeks. Focus Style – When rums aged in ex-sherry casks take center stage
Sherry, oloroso, PX, Xérès… these are words that are increasingly found on rum bottle labels. Former Spanish fortified and/or oxidative wine barrels are increasingly being used to finish special and/or limited editions, and are even sometimes used in the aging of regular vintages. What explains this craze among rum brands? Historically, the practice of using… Cet article Focus Style – When rums aged in ex-sherry casks take center stage est apparu en premier sur Rumporter .

Why side-pull taps are changing the way we drink beer
Walk into the right taproom on a Tuesday night and you might spot something a bartender treats less like a chore and more like a small ritual. A stainless faucet turned sideways. A deliberate pour building layer by layer, foam rising ahead of the beer beneath it. This is the side-pull faucet, a piece of Czech brewing culture that has quietly been finding its way onto bar tops well beyond its homeland. It's a two-handed pour, unhurried by design: one hand steadies the glass while the other coaxes the handle open in small increments, reading the foam as it builds. The question worth asking is whether this changes how beer actually tastes, or simply how it looks in the glass. Read on as beer educator Ryan Guererri goes deeper into the details behind the side-pull tap and whether it does make a difference. What makes a side-pull tap different? Unlike a standard tap where the bartender pulls the handle down fully and lets gravity and pressure do the work, a side pull faucet operates a bit m

A Tour of Wine Grapes: Sangiovese
Sangiovese 🍷 Photo by Agne27 on Wikimedia Commons Sangiovese is the most widely planted red wine grape in Italy. The name comes from Latin words meaning " the blood of Jupiter ," which shows that people have grown it since ancient Roman times. Its main home is the Tuscany region of Italy, where winemakers use it to make famous wines like Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. Today, farmers also grow this grape in other warm parts of the world, including California, Washington State, and South Australia. Aromas include red cherry, strawberry, and dried herbs. On the palate, it has flavors of tart cherry, plum and blackberry. It is naturally high in acidity, which makes the wine taste crisp. It also has medium-high tannins. The aging potential of the wine depends on how the winemaker made it. Simple, inexpensive bottles are meant to be consumed within 3 to 5 years of the harvest. High-quality bottles can age in a cellar for 10 to 20 years. Serve Sangiovese at 60°F to 65°F (15°C to 18°C).

The Mocktail Shift: The Future of Inclusive Beverage Catering
Mocktail Culture Isn’t a Trend… It’s a Shift For years, alcohol-free drinks were treated like an afterthought at events. Today’s guests expect the same creativity, […]

The substances that once masked painful emotions are gone, and the emotional weight underneath them can feel suddenly overwhelming. Knowing why this happens, and what to do about it, is one of the most important things a person in recovery can learn. This guide is written specifically for people who are in recovery from substance use and are experiencing depression. It covers the unique reasons depression surfaces during recovery, how it increases relapse risk, and the coping strategies that work best within a recovery context.
