podcast· 51:08· S1E2The Real Wine Show s1 ep2
The Real Wine Show is a fun and irreverant take on a wine trivia game show that’s all about the amazing and fascinating people who share the world of wine! Each episode has two segments: the first is a wine news challenge, where the panelists have to decide whether the hosts’ news stories are true or false, and the second segment is an emotive blind tasting, where instead of using the typical descriptors (e.g. blackberry, oak, leather), the panelists are asked to talk about the wine based on how it makes them feel, or if the wine were a person, what kind of person would it be. In this episode, joining your hosts Matt Kuhr and Chaad Thomas are: Omy Bougazia, wine director of acclaimed, top Detroit restaurant Ladder 4. Jared Gild, who runs the Teutonic-themed Stadtgarden wine bar in downtown Detroit. Jason Berthold, executive chef at Travis Pointe Country Club in Saline, MI and former California winemaker.

podcast· 42:17· Ep 9090. Maleny, Sunshine Coast Hinterland Queensland, Australia. Rainforests, hikes and wildlife.
This week we are going to Maleny and hiking around two very unique areas in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. We visit a large protected rainforest area which is full of wildlife (including snakes) and some endangered species as well as the cute little pademelons you can easily see jumping around the rainforest undergrowth. Oh pademelons are little wallabies by the way. Next we go walking around a 110 acre tropical paradise garden and bird sanctuary. This area used to be a cattle farm and is now completely transformed to be one of, if not the most beautiful places on the Sunshine Coast. This is the where you can see the best views of the iconic Glass House Mountains (which are actually 13 unusually shaped ancient volcanic vents that dominate the landscape) There are tropical gardens, ponds and lakes, waterfalls, oriental gardens, rotundas dotted everywhere, plus so much more. It is truly beautiful. The bird sanctuary was started to house rescue birds and there are four walk-through aviari

podcast· 49:01· Ep 31IWP Ep31 Julia Ornelas-Higdon - The Grapes of Conquest
IWP Ep31 Julia Ornelas-Higdon - The Grapes of Conquest I recently spoke with author Julia-Ornelas-Higdon about her book The Grapes of Conquest - Race, Labor, and the Industrialization of California Wine, 1769–1920. Julia is an associate professor at Cal State University Chanel Islands and this is fascinating book if you’re interested in the history of California and California Wine especially Pre-Prohibition. It looks at this history from a different perspective than what we normally hear about and is hidden from most of the glossy histories. We learn more about the plight of the Native American Indians, Mexican and Chinese workers that made the early wine industry possible. The large German and French vineyards of southern California and the professionalization of the industry are covered as well. This book takes a real academic but readable approach and what I especially enjoyed is that it concentrates more on the early Southern California wine history, which we don’t hear as much as
podcast· 1h 00m· Ep 130Blindflug 130: Das Weinmarktmassaker
Darin zwei Exemplare Nie
videoAllison Domeneghetti- Bhakta Spirits an introduction!
Yes! This is the spirit everybody is talking about. With vintages from 1970 all the way back to 1868, from the Private Cellar of Raj Peter Bhakta, founder of WhistlePig Rye. According to Bhakta, this brandy is the rarest spirit known to mankind. A blend of 8 Armagnac vintages 50-152 years old. This makes it among the oldest spirits on the market. Bhakta Armagnac is finished in Islay Scotch casks for a unique, smoky intrigue. More about the Bhakta Method: 1. The Long Sleep: after 50+ years in oak, the Armagnac is placed into 30L glass containers called "bonbonnes" to stop the aging process and preserve the quality of the eau-de-vie. 2. Preservation: the freshly-distilled Armagnac is carefully selected by the cellar master, who chooses a 400L oak barrel to commence its first years of aging. 3. Master blending: different vintages are blended in large barrels called foudres, with volumes of 2,000-8,000. 4. Scotch Finish: after blending, the brandy enters 200L Islay Whisky casks for a 2-w

podcast· 25:39“Victoria’s BEST wine region!” Revealed in 3...2...1... 🍷
Chardonnay can be a divisive wine when really it shouldn't! If you don't like Chardonnay chances are you probably just don't like over oaked Chardonnay. The grape variety itself is actually neutral and if you were to taste a Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Chardonnay next to a William Fevre Petit Chablis you would be mistaken for thinking they are two completely different grape varietals. The difference? Oak One with plenty and one without any! In this episode of Got Somme, Yarra Valley local Brenden Robnik aka 'The Wine Animal' joins us in studio to deep dive his favourite Australian wine region while also looking at the complex differences altitude can make on Chardonnay separated only by a few kilometres. Disagree that the Yarra Valley is the best wine region in Victoria? Aflevering 42: California dreaming!
