Did you know the U.S. still uses the word Champagne on some labels, even though it's illegal almost everywhere else in the world? In today’s episode, we’ll find out why. Today we tell the tale of the 100 year battle California fought (and sometimes ignored) with the French region of Champagne for the name they owned. videoSon vs Dad Wine Tasting Wars - "Contino Reserva" - Contino
The former manor house in Laserna, in the municipality of Laguardia, is surrounded by 62 hectares of vineyards from which all its wines are sourced along a bend of the river Ebro. Its 16th-century cave cellars are amongst the oldest in the Rioja region. They are home to the echoes of deeply rooted winemaking tradition, blended with the voices of cutting-edge technologies. The history of the house dates back to the 16th century and is reflected in the winery’s name. The officer in charge of the one hundred soldiers who watched over the royal family continuously (or ‘de continuo’ in Spanish), from the Catholic Monarchs era onwards, was known as the ‘contino’. podcast· 48:26· Ep 430August Sebastiani on Gen Z, Wine Innovation & 100 Years of Sonoma Legacy
If you have spent any time at all in the wine trade...even if you have just visited the wine section of your favorite market; you know, have seen and recognize the name Sebastiani. They are one of the original Sonoma county wine families and August is the 4th generation. He makes an interesting point that traditionally in the Italian culture, the firstborn son that gets the name of the founding family member, in this case, it was the 4th generation son. But don't let the family history fool you into thinking this is old school, archaic thinking wine approach; nothing could be further from the truth. Few winery names are as steeped in Sonoma lore as Sebastiani, but August Sebastiani himself is as approachable as a bottle of his family's famed Zinfandel. Tune into this episode and you'll discover why. You'll be privy to a firsthand account of American winemaking's intersection with immigration, family legacy, and relentless innovation, as August peels back the layers of his family's jour

videoChile Southern Region - Agricola Estacion Yumbel - Collaborative Winemakers - Episode 49
Agricola wines are made in the traditional way of peasant production. The fundamental thing is the work of the vineyard seeking greater biodiversity. Fermentations are carried out in Raulí winepresses, a species native to Chile, and in jars, made with clays from the interior of the coastal mountain range. Both are now impossible to obtain because many years ago the masters stopped making them due to the incorporation of new winemaking techniques. The World Wine Web www.winedos.com

Wie jeder Prophet ist Franz international eine größere Nummer als zuhause, a story as old as time.
