Cognac Laurichesse 19.75 / 19.76 (Malternative Belgium)
Malternative Belgium just released two cognacs from Laurichesse, a house they more or less discovered back in 2022. This is a royal diptych, in a way, featuring a lioness and a lion on the labels, facing each other. These are not accidental symbols: they also appear in the official coat of arms of Laurichesse. We've had 19.75 and 19.76 from this house before and they were among the best cognacs we've had. High hopes for this duo.

July in the Gardens
“I need to pause for a while. A garden should evolve, it’s a continuing conversation, like a painting, rather than engineering a machine to the precision of a plan. Living things are wobbly, and one thing in the garden changes everything around.” -Marc Hamer, Spring Rain: A Life Lived in Gardens These long summer evenings,… The post July in the Gardens appeared first on Brooks Wine .

Impressions: Star Hill Farm Whisky 2026
I’d like to thank Maker’s Mark and their PR team for sending these samples with no strings attached. Hello my friends! It is time for another Bonus Post. Today is a little different than usual. Normally, even in a bonus post, you get full tasting notes, maybe an anecdote that sorta connects to the whiskey, and some info about the release. Well, as you can see above from the unopened sample bottles, Maker’s Mark didn’t really send enough for us to do a full tasting. In fact, it wasn’t even enough for one of us to do a proper tasting. Not that I’m complaining or anything. I still get the opportunity to share my impressions with you so you can see if it is worth spending the money on when compared to the two standard bourbons the company puts out. First, I’ll post the press release, and then we will get into my impressions of the Star Hill Farm Wheat Whisky as compared to Maker’s Mark and Maker’s 46. The Best Fourth of July Mocktail Recipes
Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays (and it's my birthday!!) It's usually sunny, there are cookouts, fireworks, and spending time with people you love. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that having something fun and festive to drink makes those moments feel even more special. Whether you’re hosting the backyard BBQ, heading to a family gathering, or packing up for fireworks in the park, bringing a great mocktail (or a cooler full of options) will help you...
