Best Of Wine Tourism Awards 2027: Where to Visit the Porto and Douro Winners
The Best Of Wine Tourism Awards are international awards created by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network to recognize excellence and innovation in wine tourism across seven categories. The 2027 regional winners for Porto, Douro and Vinhos Verdes , announced at the end of September 2026, are Casa da Companhia, Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta da Aveleda, Restaurante Cooperativa, the Festa do Tomate Coração de Boi do Douro, Soalheiro and Quinta da Vacaria. All seven can be visited, most by reservation, and this guide explains how the awards work and how to plan a visit to each winner.

S.O.R.B.E.T. is back! The Sonoma Organic Regenerative Educational Tasting returns to Fort Mason November 8th, 2026. We sat down with old friends Katie Bundschu Tynan and Morgan Twain Peterson, who together conjured SORBET with our own Sam Coturri when some shit-talking messages about greenwashing vineyard “sustainability” got out of hand and turned into a full-fledged tasting event. SORBET 2025 was a sold-out smash hit. This year, SORBET has grown and evolved. They secured official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, hosted field days to promote regenerative farming practices in the Sonoma Valley viticulture community, and threw a spectacular, sunset-splashed fundraiser dinner. Now they’re bringing it all back to where it started for one of the most unique and forward-thinking tastings we’ve ever seen. I’ve visited Quinta do Vallado only twice, but both visits left an impression. They’re a fine producer of both Port as well as unfortified Douro wines and in fact they make one of the few VVOP wines that I’ve tasted. This is, “Very, Very, Old Port” which is, as the name implies, quite old and in this specific instance, the wine has a blend that’s 44% from 100+ year-old wine and includes a scoop of 1888 wine (akin to El Grifo in Lanzarote.)
