Context Is Everything: How Occasion-Based Marketing Is Changing the Wine Industry
Why the "What" Matters Less Than the "When" Walk into any grocery store wine aisle and watch how people actually choose a bottle. They're not mentally parsing acidity levels or imagining oak finish. They're thinking about tonight. A dinner they're bringing a bottle to. A friend coming over. A Tuesday evening that deserves something special. The moment comes first. The wine fills it. They move on to the brand that did that work for them. Occasion-based marketing is not a trend. It's a recognition of how purchasing decisions have always worked for most buyers, and a willingness to meet them there. Why Tasting Notes Alone Aren't Moving Bottles You're Speaking a Language Most Buyers Don't Use Tasting notes are a professional shorthand developed by and for people who spend significant time thinking a

Best Japanese Whiskies Under $100
By Richard Thomas For a decade now, I have devoted no small amount of effort to deflating the clickbait “bourbon shortage” claims that have been a staple of some pundits and many mainstream media reporters. The scarcity of a bottle like Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year is not a shortage, but the result of a …

Wines of Alsace and the Loire Valley Reflect the Energy of France’s Cool-Climate Heart
There are many wines from regions in France other than Bordeaux and Bourgogne, but you know that, of course. That said, I continue to explore the luscious offerings from the Rhone Valley, Provence, Roussillon, Languedoc, Southwest France, Savoie, Jura, and of course Champagne. Just recently, I was sent wines (as samples) from both Alsace and […] READ MORE The post Wines of Alsace and the Loire Valley Reflect the Energy of France’s Cool-Climate Heart appeared first on Grape Experiences .

Governo all’Uso Toscano🍷
🇮🇹 “Governo all’Uso Toscano”.🍷 No, non è politica. Tranquillo. L'articolo Governo all’Uso Toscano🍷 proviene da TanninTime: E-Commerce Vini Artigianali, Vegani, Biologici .

Sweet, simple and soft sums up Shortbarrel Four-Grain Bourbon

Where beer geeks fear to tread
Today it's another chapter in the ongoing history of Dublin's Smithfield Brewing Company, last seen in this post from 2024. Back then, a shiny new brewing kit had been installed at the old soap factory on North King Street but there was no sign of the brewery opening, nor indeed of any brewing happening -- I understand there is a well-established contract brewing link to JJ's in Limerick. I suspect that will be the case for a little while yet, as the soap factory has been earmarked for redevelopment into student flats, meaning the brewery will be on the move again. Smithfield Brewing is part of a company which owns a small chain of central Dublin pubs, clustered around fashionable Fade Street, which are the only venues in which the beer is served. Finding out what they're pouring these days meant going undercover as one of the cool kids, to Drury Buildings, where four unfamiliar Smithfield beers were on tap. Smithfield IPA looks a bit flag-shippy, leftmost of the tap array and wi
