Behind the Cork™ - Chateau La Nerthe Les Cassagnes Rose
2025 Chateau La Nerthe Les Cassagnes Rosé ($22.99) The first deed attesting to the existence of Château La Nerthe was signed on November 25, 1590, with its acquisition by the Tulle de Villefranche family. It was then a country house known as the Grange de Beauvenir. Marquis Jean-Dominique Tulle de Villefranche (1711-1760) completed making it one of the flagship estates of the Rhône Valley in France by launching the castle's construction on the foundations of the medieval cellar. They innovated in the vineyard and the wine cellar, for example, shipping bottled wines starting in 1776. Produced in Tavel, the heart of the Rhône Valley’s rosé production, this Côtes du Rhône rosé is crafted from 30+ year old vines of Grenache Noir/Blanc/Gris (60%), Cinsault (30%), and Syrah (10%). The grapes are handpicked and directly sorted when arriving in the cellar. Direct pressing took place in a pneumatic press over a 3 hour period. It was then fermented in temperature controlled tanks at low temperat

🎧Ep 169: New Tasting Rooms in Paso – Featuring V1no Juan | Hawks Hill | Boutz Cellars
🍇 WHERE WINE TAKES YOU – EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS 🍷 In this episode of Where Wine Takes You, Adam hangs with three guests who are helping shape the next wave of Paso Robles wine culture, not just through the wines they make, but through the new spaces and experiences they’re building. First up is Juan M. Contreras, owner and winemaker of V1NO JUAN, whose story might be one of the purest Paso stories out there. Juan came to the United States from Mexico in the early ‘90s, started working in the vineyards, moved into the cellar at Robert Hall, and spent more than two decades learning every side of the business before opening his own tasting room across from the downtown Paso park. Alongside his wife and kids, Juan is now crafting bold Paso reds, rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, and Bordeaux blends rooted in hard work, family, and legacy. Then there’s Kit Kuyper of Hawks Hill Ranch, farming some wildly diverse and rugged terrain in the Adelaida District. Massive elevation swings, Rhône varietals, growe

Garden County Limited Edition 9 Year Old PX Cask
Garden County Limited Edition 9 Year Old PX Cask is the inaugural release in Garden County's Fortified Wine Cask. This release begins in Spain with a 9.5-year-old Pedro Ximénez sherry cask finished single pot still Irish whiskey. Initially matured in bourbon casks, the whiskey spent its final 9 months finishing in a PX sherry cask, developing a rich and fruit-forward profile with notes of sultanas, prunes, gentle caramel sweetness, and layered sherry-cask depth. Distilled in 2016, the whiskey was produced using a distinctive mash bill of 62% malted barley and 38% unmalted barley — a recipe used only in that year before production moved to a 50:50 ratio. With just 294 individually numbered bottles yielded, this first release is a highly limited expression and a unique example of modern Irish single pot still whiskey. To celebrate the individuality of the series, Garden County Distillery will collaborate with a local artist on each release, using the bottle label as a canvas to interpret

How tank design impacts brewery hygiene (and what brewers should look for)
Maintaining high standards of hygiene is fundamental to consistent, high-quality brewing. While cleaning regimes, chemicals and processes all play a critical role, one factor is often overlooked: the design of the tank itself. Even the most rigorous cleaning protocol can be undermined by poor vessel design. Small details such as weld quality, surface finish and...
