Wine Review: Exploring Less Common Spanish Reds
I found two Spanish red varieties that are nice alternatives stylistically to your typical Tempranillo based Spanish red. Let’s explore. Spain has so much more to offer in terms of red varieties besides Tempranillo and Garnacha. I’d start with Mencia from Galicia or Bierzo. Bobal is also great. Canary Island... Saratoga Water’s Changing Sources
In my water tasting classes in San Francisco, I noticed that Saratoga water’s total dissolved solids jumped from around 40ppm TDS to about 100ppm. In the class we measure TDS by using a low-end TDS meter. The change came between one bottle (glass) and the next batch I bought (in plastic). I was wondering if […] The post Saratoga Water’s Changing Sources first appeared on Alcademics .

June Case of the Month
Around the World in 12 Bottles This month's case doesn't stick to one place, and that's exactly the point. Twelve bottles pulling from Oregon, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, and Austria — whites, rosés, and reds that cover a lot of ground without overcomplicating things. You've got local favorites like the Scenic Valley Farms Wild Hare Pinot Meunier and Heydon Road Tempranillo sitting alongside the Bruna Grimaldi Arneis, Plano Alto Garnacha, and the Wieninger Wiener Trilogie. A little something for every mood, every meal, and every night of the week. Regularly $257, this month it's $206 for the full twelve. Worth it.
