What started as a modest 35-acre family vineyard has since expanded to over 1,000 acres across 80 vineyard sites, all carefully managed by Steve alongside his mother and brother, Joe. Dan Goldfield’s journey to winemaking began in research chemistry before a love for the 1969 Burgundies led him to pursue a master’s in Enology at UC Davis. His

videoDerby Wine Estates 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles: Wine Expressed
Quick Taste: - 99 Point Vintage - From Winemakers Ray & Pam Derby - Aromas of blackberry jam, blueberries, and bay leaves - Flavors of ceylon cinnamon and dark fruits From planting a vineyard where no one thought grapes would grow to purchasing a building that would take 4 years and a small fortune to restore, Ray & Pam Derby have never shied away from a project they saw as worth-while, no matter how difficult it seemed to be. They bought their first vineyard with the intention of settling into an easy routine of growing and selling the fruit to local winemakers. Fast forward 20 years and Derby Wine Estates has 3 vineyards, supplies many local winemakers with high quality fruit, and produces a number of award-winning wines under their own Estate label. Each of their 3 vineyards has its own viticultural challenges and advantages. Between all 3 they have over 440 planted acres with more than 20 unique varietals, and several different clones within varietals. It’s not an easy task for

Phamus Wines was founded by Chris Klein and his wife Tandy with their first vintage in 2016. Chris was born in Napa and raised in St. Helena. His family has been involved for many years in the wine industry including an aunt, who worked for Grgich Hills. His parents founded Allora Vineyards, which is where Chris learned winemaking, especially from their winemaker at the time, Rudy Zuidema. Rudy got his first cellar experience at St. Clement Vineyards, where he worked with local winemaker Dennis Johns. From there he climbed the industry ladder with positions at Cuvaison, Honig, Robert Craig, Ehlers Estate and White Cottage Ranch. The name Phamus is an homage to Tandy whose maiden name was Pham. Of course when you add the 'us' to the end, it makes these wines 'Almost Famous'! This is one of those

videoDolum Estates 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley | Wine Expressed
You won't believe the quality behind this Dolum Estates Cabernet! All the fruit for Dolum Estates wine is taken from small sub-districts throughout the Napa Valley and Sonoma, including Oakville, the Stags Leap District and a select few others. This persnickety selection choice produces exceptional fruit that is surrounded by some of Napa Valley’s most renowned producers. The power, softness and elegance of our chosen fruit, coupled with Chad Alexander’s winemaking style, results in generous wines with great depth of flavor that are also elegant, multilayered and finely balanced. Traditional winemaking and maturation in French oak have ensured complex, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignons which will reward long-term cellaring. Chad has been producing fabulous wines for a quarter century, helping put Robert Craig and Hess Collection on the map. Then in 2009 he launched a label under his name, sourcing odd lots from various wineries in the area and selling them at ridiculously value prices.
videoNottingham Cellars 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley | Wine Expressed
Nottingham Cellars was launched in 2009 by the Cranor Family with the goal to produce world-class, site-driven wines from a handful of local vineyards on the Central Coast. Over the years, Nottingham explored many regions producing small lots of many varieties from a number of sites, along the way dialing in the "house style". After a decade in Livermore, CA, the headquarters moved to Napa to be close to their growing partners as they began to explore Napa Valley and Sonoma County. The team has an affinity for old vines, historic sites and well-known growers, however, the only mandatory criteria to the team is whether or not the wines produced from these sites reflect their varietal and wine-growing origins. This exploratory-driven mentality helps the winemaking team hone their craft by taking on the various challenges and nuances from a number of different vineyards with a broad range of growing conditions.
