videoCan Wine Save the Planet Day 01 2023 Diary Beckmen Santa Barbara California
Experience the best of California, Santa Barbara AVA Beckmen Vineyards red and white wines in the beautiful Ballard Canyon AVA. Steve Beckmen founded Beckmen Vineyards with his parents, Tom and Judith, in 1994. Steve grew up in LA and studied anthropology and archaeology at UC Santa Cruz. He graduated and traveled, working on archaeological digs, then worked for a bit with his father for Roland Corporation, which his parents had co-founded. (sidebar…anyone in the music industry is likely familiar with Roland keyboards. During my time in the entertainment industry, I have helped set up more than a few in Orchestra pits) His parents sold their stake in Roland in 1993 and searched with Steve for a property to start a vineyard. In 2016, Steve’s brother Jeff joined them to help with national sales. So, it is a family business with the Beckmen men. #canwinesavetheplanet #42AspensProductions #biodynamicwine #wine #winestories #carbonsequestration #winetasting #wineregions #Crushedg

videoTOWTC: Wines of Slovakia
We are joined by the wonderful Lucia from The Naughty Grape for a trip off the beaten path! Slovakia, nestled in the heart of Central Europe, is an emerging wine destination with a rich history and an exciting future. Though lesser known internationally, Slovak wines are gaining recognition for their quality, diversity, and strong sense of place. Winemaking in Slovakia dates back to Roman times, and the country's vineyards have thrived through centuries of tradition, innovation, and resilience. The country boasts six main wine regions, stretching from the sun-soaked Small Carpathians near Bratislava to the volcanic soils of Tokaj in the southeast. These regions offer a diverse range of microclimates and terroirs, ideal for both native and international grape varieties. White wines dominate production, with crisp, aromatic styles made from varieties like Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, and the indigenous Devín and Milia. Red wines are increasingly notable too, especially those craft

The Forgotten Entheogen: A New Way of Experiencing Wine
For most of my career, I’ve talked about wine through the lens of flavor, food, and family. But over the last few years, something shifted for me. I began to ask a deeper question: What if wine could be more than a drink? What if it could be a spiritual tool? That question led me down a path I didn’t expect. I’ve spent decades exploring sacred plant medicine traditions — in Peru, with ayahuasca and shamanic ceremonies,…

Perfect with food, and definitely worth a spot on your table! imported by @ethicawines #BorgognoOCM #ethicawines ___________________ ABOUT V IS FOR VINO: Wish learning about wine was easier? The Corkscrew Concierge’s Summer 2025 Rosé Picks
It’s June and summertime for all intents and purposes. It’s hot as hell where I am, so of course, the rosé has been flowing. Yes, I drink rosé year-round (we love it for Thanksgiving), but there is something about summer and rosé when you see all of the new vintages hitting the shelves, not to mention the beach outings and pool-side sipping. Rosé just hits different in the summer. As I do every year, I participated in a blind tasting of American rosé wines hosted by The Drunken Cyclist and had to choose my favorites. From that, I created my own list of summer 2025 rosé wines. Photo Credit | The Drunken Cyclist. Clearly he has a bit more “leverage” than me! It’s not fair if it’s not blind! Ya gotta have a wine crew to get through this many wines!
podcast· 53:00· S1E207Italian Wine Adventure #23: Valpolicella Ripasso — The Best Under-$25 Italian Red You're Not Drinking
Valpolicella Ripasso is one of the most fascinating wines we have ever had. It’s not just the flavor, which slaps, but also the process and history behind it. We don’t want to spoil it before you listen, but the Ripasso method is a totally unique approach to wine making that aspiring wine nerds absolutely need to know! Hailing from the beautiful area around Verona, Italy (yes, the place where Romeo and Juliet hung out), Valpolicella is known for not just one, but four different styles of red wine which we dig into because each has an important place in the production of Valpolicella Ripasso. The result of the amazing process of Ripasso is a wine that is both complex and food friendly, rich yet acidic, and an underappreciated wine that punches well above it’s weight in terms of value to price. They don’t call it baby Amarone for nothing. And, if you don’t know what that means, you need to listen so you can learn more about these unbelievable wines. And, as an extra bonus, in our Wine in

podcast· 1h 00m· Ep 11Winiarska Majorka: Selva Vins - pionierzy win naturalnych
To drugi z trzech odcinków o winiarskim obliczu Majorki. W rozmowie zagłębiamy się w: 🍇 początki Selva Vins i drogę do win naturalnych 🌿 wyzwania związane z uprawą winorośli w śródziemnomorskim klimacie 🍷 znaczenie lokalnych odmi

Farming with Philosophy: Johan Reyneke on Biodynamics & South African Wine
What happens when you mix philosophy with farming? You get Johan Reyneke — one of South Africa’s true pioneers in organic and biodynamic viticulture. In my latest YouTube interview, I sit down with Johan in Montreal to talk about his fascinating journey from philosophy student to vineyard labourer, and ultimately, to founder of Reyneke Wines — South Africa’s first certified biodynamic winery. Johan shares how reading thinkers like Thoreau and Arne Næss — and grappling with the philosophical tensions between development and nature — led him to question the conventional, chemical-heavy farming practices he encountered early on. His solution? A vineyard guided by ethics, ecology, and self-sufficiency. We dig into the practical side too — from using ducks and cattle as natural pest and weed control, to the challenges of going organic in the early ’90s, when few around him even knew what that meant. Johan also introduces Reyneke’s newly redesigned, lower-carbon-footprint wine packaging — a
