Wine Industry Smoke Detectors WISDs - Taking the guesswork out of smoke taint risk

Wine Australia continues to support the trial and development of in-vineyard smoke sensors called Wine Industry Smoke Detectors (known as WISDs). WISDs measure the density of smoke particles in the air and combines it with other factors to give a ‘traffic light’ indication of smoke taint risk, in real time. Regardless of how much smoke is drifting through the vineyard, if the risk rating is in the ‘green’ zone, there is little cause for concern for smoke taint. A commercial partner has recently been engaged to work with Wine Australia and La Trobe University to progress the technology to market. Ben Thompson from @BestsWines talk about it.
