CASE 0514: Shaken, Not Stirred
DEFENDANT: Agent 007, Commander James Bond EVIDENCE: Martinis SCENE OF THE CRIME: Our Secret Lair -- Hey friend — grab a glass and settle in. In this episode we put the martini itself on trial: from the citrus-bright Vesper to a garden-fresh basil-cucumber twist, plus a yuzu-matcha surprise that doubles as our truth serum. We sip, argue, and nerd out about James Bond — the actors, the gadgets, the infamous "shaken, not stirred" debate, and the songs that make you feel like walking into a slow-motion title card. Expect cozy banter, a few too many martinis, pop-culture tidbits, and lots of affectionate teasing (and yes, some of that classic Bond misogyny and other problematic bits get called out). Whether you love Shirley Bassey, are Team Vesper, or just here for the gossip about which Bond almost died/was recast/played by a model who conned his way into a role — we’ve got you. We keep it casual — like a long conversation with a friend who brought cocktails and way too many fun facts. If

videoTasting the SCRIBE 2024 Estate Skin Fermented Chardonnay with Andrew
This wine started as an experiment in 2010. We had been farming the muscat-like Chardonnay clone 809 for years, and its powerful floral and tropical notes always stood out. Inspired by the skin-contact white wines we admired from Slovenia and Northern Italy, we tried fermenting the fruit on its skins, like a red wine, to balance the aromatic vigor of this unique clone. The wine now sees three months on skins in concrete eggs. This ancient (and resurgent) process adds structure and texture, and the result is a memorably expressive, golden-hued wine. It continues to reveal its complexity and hold its own across the span of a meal – a new expression of California Chardonnay. podcast· 1h 33m· S11E204Courage, Constitution, and Châteauneuf: The Inside Story of the VOS Selections versus Donald J. Trump Supreme Court Victory
Welcome to Beats, Vines & Life. In today’s episode, host MJ Towler is joined by Victor and Chloe Schwartz – wine importers who just became victorious plaintiffs in a groundbreaking Supreme Court case: VOS Elections versus Donald Trump. Together, they’re uncorking more than just their favorite bottles (including a Domaine de Banneret 2003 Châteauneuf-du-Pape); they’re sharing the inside story of a real “David vs. Goliath” battle. This episode isn’t just about politics and legal drama—it’s about the culture of wine, the grind of running a small business, and the tenacity it takes to stand up for what’s right. You’ll hear how the wine industry was blindsided by tariffs, how grassroots alliances formed to protect small importers, and how the Schwartzes turned a family business legacy into a landmark legal precedent. We’re digging into life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – all over a glass of good wine, of course. Get ready for an inspiring conversation about courage, community, and
