Spacedog Wines: A Bold New Voice in the Okanagan
Launching a winery in British Columbia in 2026 might strike some as an unusual choice. The province’s wine industry is still navigating the aftermath of devastating cold events, ongoing climate uncertainty and shifting market realities. Yet for the founders of Spacedog Wines, the timing felt less like a warning sign and more like an opportunity. Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series No. 2: Straight Wheat Whiskey
I’d like to thank the folks at Ross& Squibb and their PR teams for sending this bottle with no strings attached. Spring has sprung here in Minnesota, and you know what that means. Yep, it was 80 degrees last weekend, and it’s looking like there’s a chance of snow this coming weekend. In spring, Minnesota gets a taste of all the seasons at once: summer, winter, mud, road work—even football if you follow the NFL Draft or the spring game for the local college. You don’t get to experience all of them in their full force (for example, even at 80 degrees, I didn’t turn on my AC for more than a test run, and the Draft/Spring Games are poor substitutes for real games), but you do get the opportunity to remember what you can look forward to and what you are leaving behind. It seems that, much like living through a Minnesota spring, MGP—producer of tonight’s whiskey—is also currently trying to decide what to leave behind and what is coming in the future, as they announced the “temporary idling”

Grant Nash Old Mate 128 Grenache 2025
There is an elegant simplicity about this Old Mate 128 Grenache from Grant Nash Wines that has me leaning in a little closer. Closed and not overly expressive aromatically on opening, raspberries and raspberry rope do their best to emerge. Spiced red berries and red currants plant themselves on the mid-palate with poached rhubarb, raspberries and strawberries circling the wagons. Sheets of dusty tannins coat the palate late as fine spices tighten the noose and cling on for dear life. A pre-release sample, I reckon this will show better with some more bottle age. 92/100 Region: McLaren Vale RRP: $65 Source: Sample Winery Website Subscribe to Qwine here Follow: Instagram , LinkedIn and X

Arila Gardens Moppa GSM 2024
From the Moppa sub-region of the Barossa comes this Arila Gardens GSM ready to snuggle up to on a winter's night. Grown at 300 metres above sea level on a mix of ironstone and quartz soils, the vine material contributing to this blend is up to 130 years of age. A blend of 64/34/2, the fruit is sourced from two sites. A vivid purple hue greets the eye with a core of mulberries, blueberries and cherry fruit, not to mention a neat raspberry cameo. Silky with a terrific shape, savoury nuances from cola, soy, black tea and puffs of earthiness play respectable supporting roles. Dusty tannins are scattered through a sustained finish - that length is certainly a highlight and demands another sip. Once again, a great release from winemaker Adam Clay. 93/100 Region: Barossa RRP: $45 Source: Sample Winery Website Subscribe to Qwine here Follow: Instagram , LinkedIn and X

Chasing the Sun with Veuve Clicquot and Yinka Ilori in NYC
By Martha Cisneros Paja Last week, I found myself escaping the relentless hum of Manhattan to step into a vibrant, sun-drenched oasis that felt worlds away from the concrete jungle. On Thursday, June 18, 2026, The Garden at The Standard East Village transformed into a sanctuary of pure optimism and high style. Booker's Big Easy Batch: Honest, Approachable Full-Bodied Bourbon
This is neither a showy whiskey with cask-finished flavor vectors nor a particularly powerful pour. It's an honest, approachable, full-bodied bourbon that makes old school drinkers say, "Now that's bourbon!" It's the kind of whiskey Booker Noe liked and wanted to share with others.

Armagnac Hontambère 2012 / Pouchégu 1998
The latest armagnacs from Hontambère / Rac Spirits arrived. The first one is their own production, a Hontambère 2012 . This is 100% Folle Blanche, matured in a dry cellar for 14 years. We already tried 2013 before.Next up is one of the Pouchégu casks, this time a 1998. Check some of their previous releases . Armagnac Hontambère 14 yo 2012 (50,6%, OB 2026, cask H16, 400 btl.) Nose: a nice combination of citrus notes, eau-de-vie from mirabelles, a touch of greens and then also nougat and walnuts. Then also marmalade, hints of heather and a bit of white pepper. Mouth: apples aplenty (fresh and cider apples), with grapes, berries and some tannic / peppery power. A bit of an eau-de-vie style. There's some rustic character, but also brightness and a nice juicy edge. Mid-palate I'm getting a toffee note and light vanilla, which evolves towards herbs and liquorice, with a pleasant bitter citrus edge. Finish: medium length, oak spice comes forward, a little verbena and liquorice.I believe
