During his decade-long tenure at Domaine Serene, Rynders achieved more 90+ point scores from Wine Spectator than any other winemaker in that period. Named for the distinctive grape tendril, this title was chosen to honor the grapevine itself. Tony believes the vineyards and grapes themselves are the foundation of great wine. He has created a unique array of wines which highlight the diversity of flavors and textures that can be achieved in Willamette Valley. Chateau Bourdieu dates back to 1464. Located on Bordeaux’ Right Bank in the Cotes de Blaye region. The estates vineyards have a mixture of clay, limestone, and gravel soils. Ideal for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate covers 180 acres and the vines average a mature 35 years of age. The property today is owned by the Schweitzer family who bring decades of winemaking passion. They meticulously care for the vineyards keeping the vines healthy and yields low. In the winery, they carefully sort the grapes and ferment them in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The grapes macerate for 3 to 4 weeks and then age in the same tanks to retain the bright character of the fruit. Jaffe Family Wines was founded by Gary and Pam Jaffe. Today their daughter, Vida Jaffe has assumed the role of President of Jaffe Family Wines and oversees their marketing and sales and winemaking. Their original vineyard was located in the St. Helena Appellation almost on the border of the Rutherford Appellation. They purchased the estate in 1999 with vineyards that were already planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. For several years they sold the grapes to Corison Winery; in 2002 winemaker Cathy Corison made a small amount of Merlot from their vineyard but it was never sold commercially. This Jaffe Estate 2017 Metamorphosis Cabernet Sauvignon is a stunning expression of the land, blending 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot. This small family estate of 36 hectares has an outstanding situation, lying on a gravely knoll in the north of the Médoc, in the village of Lesparre Médoc. It was in 1986 that the Lamoliere family settled here and began to plant vines. Since then, the family has invested in modern facilities (stainless steel vats, barrel cellar, shed for farming equipment, harvesting machine). This wine is the fruit of painstaking tending by Norbert Lamolière, the estate owner and a passionately dedicated winegrower. Château du Courneau is another label produced at Château Haut Breton Larigaudière. It is made using a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape varieties that reflect their unique terroir while remaining faithful to the Margaux style. This wine is a deep ruby-red with intense, refined ripe red fruit aromas and elegant notes of vanilla and violet. It starts out powerful on the palate with a long, fresh aftertaste.
