Judd talks about working in the wine industry, learning about the synergy of wine, food and the arts from his time as global vice president of marketing at Robert Mondavi, president of Michel-Schlumberger, and president and CEO of C. Mondavi & Family. He founded his own label, Humanitas Wines in 2001, using the "Newman's Own Model" of making stuff and giving away the proceeds. In this case it was delicious wines, in a great setting featuring rock photography on the walls, and high level molecular gastronomy on the plates. After retiring, Judd discovered that he wasn't very good at being retired, so when the opportunity arose, he signed on as CEO of Priest Ranch Winery and Somerston Estate. He was delighted to work with a team that already were doing fantastic things, and so now Judd gets to help the brand work on those wow experiences, like innovative wine and food pairing

Messina Hof was established in 1977 by Paul Vincent and Merrill Bonarrigo, who began with one acre of vineyard in Bryan, Texas. The Bonarrigos are considered “the first family of Texas wine" and produce many varietals. Messina Hof wines are all produced from Texas grapes. Many are sourced from the high elevation Texas High Plains AVA in the northwest near Lubbock. Son Paul and daughter-in-law Karen Bonarrigo, now oversee winery operations with locations in Bryan, Fredericksburg and Grapevine. Una fastidiosa (a volte intollerabile) situazione che molti di noi hanno sperimentato e sofferto almeno una volta; tanti fattori contribuiscono a creare il disagio del mal di testa da vino (escludendo l'abuso, che qui ovviamente non consideriamo..) e proprio per questo se ne sono sentite di tutti i colori... sulle sue cause. Andiamo alla scoperta di ALTA LANGA docg: uno spumante Metodo Classico dalla storia lunga ed intrigante, ma ancora (ingiustamente) non così conosciuto sul mercato. Una bollicina straordinaria proveniente dal Piemonte, storicamente terra di vini rossi? E invece no! Questa regione ha espresso per lunghissimo tempo (nel secolo scorso) anche grandi spumanti Metodo Classico, esportati in tutto il mondo. Gli appassionati lo conosco bene e lo apprezzano molto, eccolo!

181 StorieDivine: JERMANN, IL VISIONARIO PATRIARCA del COLLIO FRIULANO
In Italia si contano sulle dita di due mani (al massimo), i vignaioli che hanno fatto la storia del nostro vino di qualità, che hanno aperto strade impensabili per la loro epoca e che, quindi, sono diventati (e sono ancora) dei modelli di riferimento assoluto per i produttori italiani e stranieri. Tra questi c'è, senza ombra di dubbio, il friulano Sylvio Jermann che, all'inizio degli anni '70, ha letteralmente rivoluzionato il modo di fare il vino bianco in Friuli (e quindi in Italia), portando in pochi anni questa regione ai vertici dell'enologia mondiale, facendo quindi scuola a tutti gli altri. Una storia densa di intuizioni e di visioni, unita ad una ossessione pura per l'eccellenza, concepita come un concetto di vita, quindi non solo nel vino. PROSIT!
