podcast· 44:59· Ep 172#172 Make Rose Dark Again
We zijn er weer! We waren er even tussenuit, zoals je inmiddels van ons kunt verwachten in de zomer. In deze aflevering nemen we korte metten met de mythen die om rosé hangen. Donkere rose, altijd zoet? No way! Rosé moet altijd uit Provence komen? Hell no! We gaan van Engeland tot Sicilië en zetten onze favo's op tafel. Let op: geen terraswijnen, maar serieuze, gestructureerde rosé. We love it. podcast· 43:52· Ep 575Ep 575: Lombardy, Italy
This week I cover Lombardy/Lombardia, one of the smaller wine production areas of Italy. Lombardy, home to the cities of Milan, Bergamo and Brescia is known far more for its fashion, its industry, and osso bucco and risotto alla Milanese than it is for its wines, but there are some gems to be discovered. Photo: Lugana Credit: Consorzio Lugana Because there is limited availability of these wines, I only cover the major regions that you may encounter and discuss the terrain of Lombardy and the terroir of each of the fine wine regions. Lombardy is known in the wine world primarily for Franciacorta, the sparkling wine made in the Champagne method, which has been called the best sparkling wine of Italy. But Lombardy is is more than just Franciacorta. There are exceptional sparkling, sweet, and still wines of Oltrepò Pavese in the southwest of the region, complex reds from the Alpine area of Valtellina on the Swiss border, tasty, refreshing whites from Lugana near Lake Garda, and other inter

How to Decode a Sake List
The first sake I ever had was in a Japanese restaurant in Maine. It was served warm and was unlike anything I’d had before – not really beer, not really wine – but so complementary to the rice and fish it accompanied. Outside major cities, the sake selection at most restaurants is limited to bottles that are easy to find and often low quality. The article How to Decode a Sake List appeared first on VinePair .
podcast· 48:21· Ep 441From Australia to Paso: Jane Dunkley on Authentic Wine, Bezel, and California's New Wave
Wine needs a fresh face. Well, that is if you ask the pundits in the industry. I am not sure I agree. Certainly, any industry needs to keep up with the times, I suppose marketing ideas and packaging ideas would follow. I am not sure I even agree with that... however, one thing I do believe is bringing a contemporary viewpoint to the table is beneficial. Meet a contemporary viewpoint in Jane Dunkley of Bezel. eflecting on my conversation with Jane Dunkley of Bezel for the latest episode of Wine Talks, I'm left both energized and encouraged about where the wine industry is headed—and what truly matters in today's wine world. Our podcast's mission has always been to tell the real stories of wine, far beyond tasting notes and ratings. So, sitting down (virtually, at least) with Jane, an Australian-born winemaker who has worked on both sides of the world and now crafts wines for the Cakebread family's new Bezel brand in Paso Robles, was exactly the kind of exchange I live for. podcast· 54:34· Ep 78078: Beyond Organic Wine with Adam Huss
In this episode of Vineyard Underground, Fritz welcomes Adam Huss — host of the Beyond Organic Wine podcast, winemaker at Centralas Wine, and creator of the Crenshaw Cru Wine Garden in South Los Angeles. Adam shares his unconventional path into winemaking, beginning with a career in the nonprofit sector before launching a winery focused on ecological and community-driven practices. The conversation explores Adam's philosophy of going "beyond organic" to embrace an ecological approach to winegrowing — one that avoids getting boxed into industry buzzwords and instead focuses on the interconnectedness of soil, plants, people, and place. He discusses his work with regenerative agriculture pioneer Kelly Mulville at Paicines Ranch, his shift toward sourcing local fruit (including prickly pears and other native plants), and his experimentation with vitiforestry — a centuries-old practice of integrating grapevines with trees to create resilient, biodiverse systems. videoFurrow Vineyards 2020 Zinfandel, Sierra Foothills | Wine Expressed
Here's a value Zin deal you won't want to miss! It's not everyday we grab a Zin of this caliber from a top quality AVA like Sierra Foothills at this kind of price point. If you're not familiar with Sierra Foothills, it has led to 100 Point wines from producers such as Terre Rouge and is the home to many of the top Zinfandels from producers such as Turley, Bedrock, Scott and Harvey, Easton and more! This is one of those private label wines that doesn't come with a whole lot of information… which is one of the reasons it is such a phenomenal deal! No winery markups, no marketing costs, no brand recognition that can jack up the prices. Just incredibly solid Zin juice at, dare I say, an incredibly low price! It has all that jammy and juicy bramble berry you would expect, with delightful notes of graham cracker, smoky cedar, vanilla, violets, cherry cola and just a hint of sweet tobacco. The acidity is vibrant and refreshing and the tannins are polished and well integrated, providing a
