podcast· 58:53· Ep 494Romania's Wine Revival: From Communist Past to International Stage
I have been selling direct to the consumer in the wine trade for over 35 years. The industry certainly is not what it was; in some ways, better, in other ways, not so much. I've seen it all...well, at least most of it. The month and year I started with the Original Wine of the Month Club, my father was featuring a Romanian wine; mind you, Romania was still under Soviet rule. In this episode, I speak with Dr. Marinella Ardelean, expert on Romanian wine. I have to tell you, having Marinella Ardelian on the show took me back, and not just because she reminded me that the first Romanian wine I ever sold—way back in 1989—was a $2.50 Sauvignon Blanc from a winery called Premiat. There's something poetic about opening an episode by unearthing an old newsletter my late father wrote about that wine, especially since it was the same month I joined the family business. Wine really does have a way of sharpening your memory. The nose, the flavor, even the price tag—they stick with you. The conversa

videoTwomey Winery Sonoma CA #travel #winerytour #sonomacalifornia
I had an incredible tour and tasting experience at Twomey Winery in Healdsburg, California. The visit began with a warm welcome from the knowledgeable staff, who provided great insights into the winery's history, philosophy, and sustainable practices. We explored the beautiful grounds, learning about the grape cultivation process and the unique terroir of the region. The tasting room offered a selection of their finest wines, including their renowned #pinotnoir and #sauvignonblanc. Each pour was a joy to explore both on the nose and on the palate. The comfortable yet elegant setting enhanced the flavors and aroma of the wines. I especially enjoyed the depth and complexity of the Pinot Noir, which showcased the winery's commitment to quality and craft. The Wine Makers – Evan Roscoe
While Evan Roscoe is a Napa native, he grew up far from Napa’s wine culture. So far, in fact, that his family’s mountainside cabin was technically on the Solano side of the county line. There wasn’t wine on the table growing up, and his family had no connections to the wine business. Evan left Napa for college in Chicago and eventually found his way into hospitality and bar management. He returned home after the 2017 fires to find a wine industry already reeling, at the beginning of what would become a long stretch of calamities, corrections, and a few brief booms over the next eight years. In that time, Evan formed some strong opinions about how the wine industry presents itself to the public and how it operates behind the scenes. With a keen sense of aesthetics and a sharp instinct for storytelling, he has turned his creative director skill set into a mirror held up to the industry itself. Evan now posts provocative, thought-provoking reels nearly every day on Instagram @Evan__Roscoe

"Surviving Alex" with Patricia Roos
Patricia Roos, Professor Emerita of Sociology, was at Rutgers University when, in 2015, she lost her son Alex, who was 25 years of age, to a heroin overdose. As a professor who had devoted her career to the study and research of work, gender, inequalities, stratification, work/family dynamics, and addiction, Patricia shifted her research and advocacy interests, turning grief into activism. In her new book Surviving Alex, Patricia weaves together the personal and the sociological as she examines the broader set of factors implicated in mental health and substance use disorders. Patricia's book, her other works, and contact information, can be accessed at Patricia A. podcast· 4:12VINHO DE TALHA: O MÉTODO ANCESTRAL DA VINIFICAÇÃO PORTUGUESA

Breaking Barriers: Exploring Psychedelics and the New Frontiers of Recovery
I have a deeply moving and inspirational story to share with you. My guest, Todd Belfer, has been on a remarkable journey of transformation and healing. Todd has been clean and sober for over two decades, successfully overcoming his struggles with drugs and alcohol. However, his path took an unexpected turn a little over a year ago when he faced the unimaginable pain of his son's suicide. This profound loss led Todd to explore a realm he was once firmly against—psychedelics. In this episode, Todd will share how this exploration has significantly impacted his life and recovery. Despite his initial reservations, Todd now advocates for the therapeutic potential of psychedelics, especially in dealing with grief and trauma. We discuss his journey to sobriety, the events that led him to reconsider psychedelics, and how these substances have helped him cope with his loss without jeopardizing his sobriety. Join us in this complex interplay between addiction recovery and psychedelic therapy. We
