We Asked 21 Drinks Pros: What Are You Drinking on New Year’s Eve?
New Year’s Eve means Champagne, right? It’s a classic pairing — and for good reason. There’s something incredibly celebratory about popping a cork and sipping bubbles on the biggest party night of the year. But the truth is, there are many other options to consider. Cocktails are a good alternative — maybe something low-ABV if you’re planning an all-night celebration that will have you up until the wee hours. Or, if you’re opting for tried-and-true Champagne, what style will you choose? The article We Asked 21 Drinks Pros: What Are You Drinking on New Year’s Eve? appeared first on VinePair .

So Every Spirit Wants to Be Bourbon Now?
It’s the early 1970s and America’s bourbon industry is tanking. After hitting an all-time high in cases sold, the industry is at the start of a free fall that will last well into the ‘90s. It’s suddenly seen as your old man’s spirit, stuffy and way too robust in flavor, especially compared to the light, “clean” spirits now taking America by storm: blended Scotch, tequila, rum, and, most notably, vodka. Understanding Rum
As more and more people visit our tasting room, they are surprised to learn that 30A Distilling Co offers multiple types of rum. We love rum because it is so versatile in cocktails and has so many different flavor profiles. In this blog post, we are going to shed some light on the different styles of rum. What is Rum? Rum is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane byproducts, such as molasses or sugarcane juice. It is typically produced in countries with a tropical climate, including the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Rum is typically aged in oak barrels, which can give it a smooth, mellow flavor. The aging process also causes the rum to darken in color, with longer-aged rums being darker in color than younger rums. Where do you get your sugarcane? Our sister distillery, Sugarfield Spirits in Gonzales, Louisiana, is only minutes away from sugarcane fields. Sugarfield has a relationship with the Lula-Westfield sugar mill in Assumption parish, and they

Bartender-Approved Holiday Cocktails Featuring Rémy Martin XO
It’s the merriest, most social — and potentially the most chaotic — time of the year. With all of the season’s gatherings, celebrations, and cheerful catch-ups comes an expectation not to show up empty-handed. In lieu of wine or bubbly as your dinner party favor or go-to gift this year, a Cognac like Rémy Martin XO makes a less obvious, more special choice. We spoke to Julia Momosé, a Chicago-based bartender and author of the book “The Way of the Cocktail: Japanese Traditions, Techniques, and Recipes,” about why Rémy Martin XO makes the perfect holiday gift. How Bartender Himanshu Desai Gifts Rémy Martin XO
This holiday season, celebrate with the very best: Rémy Martin XO. The signature Cognac of Rémy Martin cellar master Baptiste Loiseau is an opulent blend of hundreds of eaux-de-vie that expresses its delicate aromas and full potential as an aperitif and neat or on the rocks, or even when mixed into an Old Fashioned. Aside from its potable possibilities, the complex spirit has another utility: It makes a perfect gift for the holiday season. To explore that option, we’ve enlisted the aid of Himanshu Desai, who serves as the beverage director for a modern, upscale Indian restaurant in Houston. Fattoria Zerbina (Marzeno): eccellenza romagnola.
