Why More Beer Drinkers Want Lighter Beer
The beer industry is constantly evolving, and one of the biggest trends gaining momentum is the growing demand for lighter beers. While bold IPAs, barrel-aged stouts, and high-ABV specialty releases continue to have dedicated fans, many beer drinkers are increasingly reaching for beers that offer more balance, drinkability, and sessionability. This shift isn't necessarily about abandoning flavor. Instead, it's about finding beers that fit today's lifestyles while still delivering an enjoyable craft beer experience. If you would rather watch the full discussion, check out the YouTube video here: 📺 Watch the video: Why More Beer Drinkers Want Lighter Beer? The Rise of Sessionable Beer For years, the craft beer industry saw a race toward bigger flavors and higher alcohol content. Double IPAs, Triple IPAs, pastry stouts, and heavily adjuncted beers became staples of many brewery lineups. Today, many consumers are moving in a different direction. Session beers, lagers, pilsners, light ales

Image courtesy of Lakewood Brewing Co. Bringing together two of the area's stalwart brands, Rahr Brewing Co. of Fort Worth and Lakewood Brewing Co. of Garland have announced a new contract brewing partnership that will expand production capacity for select Rahr brands. Since closing its own longtime Fort Worth facility in May 2025, Rahr has been seeking additional brewing capacity to help meet increasing Dallas demand. As a result of this new partnership, Rahr beers will be served on tap at the Lakewood Taproom. “This partnership is built on friendship, mutual respect, and a shared belief in the future of Texas craft beer,” says Fritz Rahr, founder of Rahr Brewing. “Together, we can continue to innovate while honoring the traditions that have made both of our breweries successful.” Lakewood founder Wim Bens added, “Rahr Brewing has lo

The Whisky Agency: 4x Port casks
We may have missed some kind of outlet sale at a Portuguese cooperage recently. The 2025 outturn from The Whisky Agency already included a series of Port casks, and the Spring 2026 batch also has a surprising proportion of these casks. A lot of them are made for friends, as they say on the label. All of the whiskies have this typical rosehip tea colour. It's clear they are very cask-forward, and by now you know Port casks aren't our favourite. So if you are a fan of this style, I guess you can safely add a couple of points to each score.
