Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon, 2025
I’d like to thank the Texas Whiskey Festival, Garrison Brothers, and their PR partners for providing this sample with no strings attached. When you think of great bourbon, who do you think of first? The obvious answer is Kentucky, right? So much so that there are still folks out there who think that it’s the only place that bourbon can be made. But there are folks all over the country these days who are lining up to prove that other states have what it takes as well. For example, I recently received a couple of samples through the Texas Whiskey Festival. They were promoting the winners of their “Best Texas Whiskey of 2026” competition. I ended up with samples of two of their category winners. We’ll talk about the bourbon today and then hit the rye in a bonus post on Friday, so keep an eye out for that. But before we get into the winner, let’s let the Festival speak for themselves about their contest: The 2026 Texas Whiskey Festival brought together distilleries from across the state fo

Hogshead: Aultmore, Glentauchers, Speyside…
We've tried a large range of bottlings from Hogshead Imports (or rather Hogshead Indie) in the past two years or so. Some have been really good, but other were sometimes marred by weird cask choices. Today we're trying a couple of older releases, mostly from refill casks.

If you purchased these items through a U.S. distributor, the importer of record would typically be the distributor. This change in policy creates a potential opportunity for wineries that imported certain goods directly during the affected period.

Bartenders Name the Best Bars in Their Cities Right Now
When travelers ask locals where to grab a drink, the answer often depends on who you ask. Rather than turning to Google reviews or Yelp, we went straight to bartenders across the country and asked a simple question: What's the best bar in your city right now? (Other than their own, of course). [...] The post Bartenders Name the Best Bars in Their Cities Right Now appeared first on Chilled Magazine .

Wines to Watch the World Cup By
The games are far apart and the ticket prices astronomical, so while the United States gets to play co-host with Canada and Mexico to this summer’s FIFA World Cup, most of us will be watching the matches from home. Weerts came to Sonoma County in 1999 to work at Vérité and in 2004 became the winemaker at Stonestreet, where he made the wines through 2014.

Sweet Stout – Jar of Destiny
We are back with another Jar of Destiny beer. My pick from the 18th one was a Sweet Stout. For the challenge, I brewed a milk stout.
