The Connoisseur’s Conundrum: A Month of Spirits and Shadows in Delhi
After exploring Delhi's culinary scene, the author highlights their disappointment with cocktails that misrepresent premium spirits. Despite vibrant presentation, many drinks suffer from dilution or counterfeit ingredients. They emphasize the need for honesty and integrity in beverage programs and recommend trusted venues where quality matches the label, like Sidecar and Townhall. Exploring Catalonia’s Notable Olive Groves: A Visit to Cuadrat Valley
At first light, olive trees spread across the Cuadrat Valley in natural rows and clusters. Their deep green leaves catch the morning sun against the warm, earthy tones of the soil beneath them. This tranquil corner of Catalonia lies in northeastern Spain. The land slopes gently inland from the Mediterranean coast and meets the borders... Read More

Complete Guide to Wine Tasting in the Russian River Valley
If you’re a Pinot Noir or Chardonnay lover, chances are you’ve already looked into wine tasting in the Russian River Valley—an AVA within Sonoma wine country that consistently delivers some of my personal favorite wines. Where Is the Russian River Valley? Let’s get a lay of the land first. Sonoma wine country is expansive and made up of many different AVAs and sub-regions. The Russian River Valley is located in northern Sonoma County, about 55 minutes north of San Francisco, and sprawls across several towns including Sebastopol, Forestville, Santa Rosa, Windsor, and Healdsburg. This AVA is relatively close to the coast (which is ideal for growing Burgundian grape varieties), features a wide range of soil types and microclimates, and is, of course, home to the Russian River itself. Cool coastal fog, warm sunny days, and varied terrain all come together to create a truly special place for wine growing. What Kind of Wine Is Made in the Russian River Valley? The Russian River Valley is han

The Rise of Light Reds: Summer’s Coolest Wine Trend
Why delicate, fruit-forward red wines are becoming Australia’s warm-weather essential When the temperatures rise, many wine lovers naturally reach for crisp whites or refreshing rosés especially during the day. But summer can also be the perfect season to explore light-bodied red wines. And unlike their heavier, more tannic counterparts, light reds offer a fresh, vibrant […] The post The Rise of Light Reds: Summer’s Coolest Wine Trend appeared first on Ocean Road Magazine .

Trading “Dry January” for “Local January”
For a long time, our Co-Owner and Vineyard Manager, Eric Aellen, has participated in “Dry January”, that month-long reset many like to take to kick off the new year. But this year, he has decided to try something a little different; he is trading in Dry January for Local January. The Challenge of Staying LocalAt first glance, you might think giving up alcohol is the hard part. Honestly? I’ve found that “Local January” is actually much more of a challenge. It’s easy enough just to give up a product entirely. What’s difficult is going out to your favorite restaurants and... Purity, Place, and Purpose: Tasting AVIVO Red Through the Lens of Regenerative Farming
My earlier post, Sipping with Purpose: AVIVO’s Regenerative White & Rosé, focused on the intersection of farming, climate, and wine—how thoughtful agricultural choices can influence both what grows in the vineyard and what ends up in the glass. This follow-up takes that conversation further with a look at AVIVO Red, and with a deeper exploration... Read More

Wine Notes: Nipozzano Chianti & Famiglia Pasqua
This blog became 20 years old, in December 2025. That’s 20 years of writing about wine, and having fun. I’ve been documenting thoughts, experiences, and knowledge about wine for a quarter of my life. That’s an amazing achievement of evolving tastes and the wines I’ve encountered, along the way. Pruning Vines – Linganore Winecellars
Want to see exactly how Brandon decides where to cut the vines? Check out our latest video to see the shears in action and learn more about the dedication that goes into every bottle of Linganore wine. Watch the full clip here or continue reading below. As Brandon demonstrates in the video, pruning isn’t just about making the vineyard look tidy. It involves: Selection: Identifying the strongest “canes” (the branches from the previous year) to keep for the new season. Balance: Ensuring the vine has enough buds to produce a harvest, but not so many that the grapes lose their... Pre–New Year’s Dinner: Why Louis Roederer Collection 245 and Cristal 2016 Redefine Celebration
Some evenings feel like prologues. The eve before New Year’s Eve is one of them, less noise, more contemplation. It’s the space where conversation deepens, and Champagne becomes less of a party trick and more of an essay in liquid form. This year, my pre–New Year’s dinner is guided by the ethos of Louis […] The post Pre–New Year’s Dinner: Why Louis Roederer Collection 245 and Cristal 2016 Redefine Celebration appeared first on Liz Palmer .
