Tequila Isn’t the Only Spirit to Use Additives. Why Aren’t We Talking About the Others?
Spirits additives have been in the news a lot lately, almost solely in relation to tequila. A clash between the independently run Additive Free Alliance and the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT), tequila’s regulatory body, has chilled the growing movement for transparency in the category, and currently, per the CRT, no brands may legally discuss use or non-use of additives — which are legal — on their packaging or in their marketing. The stalemate seems likely to continue without a satisfying resolution unless and until the regulator and the industry can reach a compromise. Spiced Summer Strawberry Spritz
This is a sponsored post in partnership with Rooster Rojo Tequila intended for a 21+ audience only. When Rooster Rojo Tequila reached out for me to try their new Tequila Ahumado in a cocktail, it seemed like a pretty good little brand synergy, wouldn’t you say? Not only was it a no-brainer because: CHICKENS….and also because: TEQUILA, but furthermore, I was very, very curious to try this interesting-sounding smoked reposado variation. You read the word ‘smoked’ and you immediately think: mezcal. But no—it isn’t like that. This is a mellow, warm tequila that has the loveliest notes of smoke in both the aroma and the taste. I knew, right off the bat, I wanted to put this lovely tequila into a summertime spritz. And strawberries seemed like a pretty good move. AND, if you want to get extra fancy and spend a little bit more time on this drink (or if you just happen to be making this drink at a summer BBQ), throw those strawberries on the grill and get some char on them. It’s a littl

Clear Intention
As cocktail caterers, our job and our intuition dictate that we deliver eye-catching cocktails that indulge and amuse. As we aim to bring an element of surprise to our events, we messed around with a clarified cocktail this week. A crystal-clear cocktail has the aptitude to not only pamper but also completely shock our taste buds - a perfect fix for those times we like to play with people's expectations.

Cali Margarita
Southern California winters are like a dream. Take it from a kid who grew up with the harsh Bulgarian winters; I still find myself watching in disbelief while people surf in December, kayak in January and play beach volleyball in February. But if I were to tell you that January is also one of our favorite months to make fresh juice cocktails, you might scratch your head and wonder if I've been hit one too many times in the head by one of those volleyballs.
