Fort Berens Estate Winery Riesling and Gruner Veltliner 2025_PR SAMPLE
In BC we welcomed the bountiful grape harvest of 2025, after we had two terrible years with cold winter weather that devastated our grape vines. White wines are usually the first to be released after a harvest. I received several bottles of the 2025 vintage wines from Lillooet’s Fort Berens Estate Winery, and today I tasted two of those wines: ...

Doña Paula Winery: Where the Andes Meet a Living Philosophy
In 1997, a small team of viticulturists and enologists set out to achieve what was, at the time, a quietly radical goal: owning every single vine they worked with. While their initial plans focused heavily on cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, it was Malbec that ultimately proved its extraordinary potential on this land, paving the way for their inaugural vintage. Sallier de la Tour: A Historic Sicilian Estate Committed to Sustainability
The Wining Hour: History of the Estate Sallier de La Tour, home to the La Monaca winery, near Palermo, Sicily, traces its origins to 1909. The history is most fascinating. Its story intertwined with another influential Sicilian wine family in 1956, when Paolo Sallier de La Tour married Costanza Tasca d’Almerita. The winery historically cultivated Sicilia’s native grape varieties, as well as carefully selected international grapes. However, Filiberto, Paolo’s son, later steered the estate toward exploring the potential of Syrah in the island’s unique terroir. In 2008, the estate became part of the broader holdings of the historic Tasca d’Almerita family, which took stewardship of the property. Since then, the estate has balanced noble heritage with modern winemaking and sustainability, honoring both land and legacy. Terroir Tenuta Sallier de la Tour is within the Monreale DOC in northwest Sicily, a landscape where Mediterranean sun, sea breezes, and varied soil types give grapes a uniqu

Parma Food Valley: Where Italy’s culinary soul comes to life
From Parmigiano Reggiano and prosciutto to Lambrusco and balsamic vinegar, a four-day journey through Emilia-Romagna reveals why this corner of Italy remains one of the world’s great gastronomic destinations There are places you visit for the sights, and then there are places you visit for the flavours. Italy’s Parma Food Valley—set within the fertile heart of Emilia-Romagna—belongs firmly in the latter category. Over the four days that I spent weaving through the elegant streets of Parma, the culinary powerhouse of Modena, and the quieter charm of Colorno and other nearby towns, one thing became abundantly clear: here, food is not simply consumed—it is lived. Read Also: Exploring Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast: wine, food, and culture That idea feels especially relevant now. Italian cuisine has recently been recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. It’s an acknowledgment not just of recipes, but of rituals, traditions, and a deeply rooted connection between

Earth Day, One Refill at a Time: Why Growlers & Howlers Still Matter
Earth Day is a reminder that meaningful environmental change rarely comes from one big, dramatic action. More often, it’s built through the small, consistent choices we make every day.
